Daredevil Universe Ignites: Jon Bernthal’s Punisher Teaser Rocks Fans!

A new behind-the-scenes photo of a bloody Jon Bernthal shows the first look at the actor’s return as the Punisher for Daredevil: Born Again.

Jon Bernthal has been spotted during a break from filming his return as the Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again. Bernthal first played Frank Castle in the second season of Netflix’s Daredevil opposite Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock, so it makes sense that his return as the character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will happen as part of the cast of Daredevil: Born Again. After years, Bernthal is back to filming as the Punisher.

On Instagram, @littlepandapit shared a photo alongside Punisher actor Jon Bernthal on a break from filming Daredevil: Born Again.

Bernthal sported a few bloody bruises for his return as the Punisher. According to the fan, Bernthal looked to be on a break from filming and everyone that was with him was also in costume and had fake blood on. Daredevil: Born Again will mark Bernthal’s first role as Frank Castle since The Punisher season 2’s ending.

What To Expect From Jon Bernthal’s Punisher In Daredevil: Born Again

Frank Castle Could Be Back For Revenge

Jon Bernthal as the Punisher on Netflix

Official updates on Daredevil: Born Again‘s story have been few and far between. Due to that, not much is known about what kind of role Bernthal’s Punisher will play in the MCU series. However, thanks to a major rumor and a few set photos and videos, it is possible to come up with a path Frank Castle could thread in the series. And if it is right, the character will have a bloody future.

After a major creative overhaul, Daredevil: Born Again has brought back important characters from the original Netflix series, which include Matt Murdock’s best friends Foggy Nelson and Karen Page, as well as Daredevil season 3 villain Bullseye. Daredevil: Born Again set reveals support the theory that Foggy and Karen — or one of them — will die. A scene has been filmed with Bullseye firing a gun in the direction the duo was standing in before Daredevil tackles him.

Due to their close relationship, if anything were to happen to Karen, Frank Castle would most definitely be out for blood. So, if Karen does end up dying in Daredevil: Born Again, the MCU series could see the Punisher go after Bullseye for revenge. Another set video appeared to show the Punisher killing a new MCU hero in cold blood. However, a story about cops misusing the Punisher’s logo is rumored for the series, which could mean it was not Castle doing the killing but someone posing as him, which would make the Punisher very angry in Daredevil: Born Again.
