Daredevil First Look: MCU Fans Enthralled, Anticipation Peaks!

The first brief clip of Daredevil: Born Again footage recently surfaced, and Marvel fans have an overwhelmingly positive reaction to the MCU show.

Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock In Full Daredevil Costume Poised Mid-Fight In Echo Episode 1

A short clip of Daredevil: Born Again from a Disney sizzle reel gave audiences their first look at official footage from the MCU show, prompting overwhelmingly positive fan reactions to Matt Murdock’s return. Initially, it seemed like Charlie Cox’s time as Daredevil had concluded following the Daredevil season 3 ending. This caused a lot of excitement when he turned back up in Spider-Man: No Way Home as part of the MCU ahead of leading the new series Daredevil: Born Again.

This new Daredevil: Born Again clip was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by @DiscussingFilm. It shows a brief shot of Cox in his Daredevil costume, possibly in a church, looking over his shoulder. Daredevil also seemingly has blood on his face, so this may be happening in the middle of a big fight sequence. The clip and original post can be seen below:

Although the clip shows very little of what’s going on, fans are already excited about getting an official look at Daredevil: Born Again. User @CS11__, for example, commented on how cool Daredevil looks in the new show.

User @CynicalFate shared a GIF from the original Daredevil series, saying they hadn’t expected to see Daredevil again, but seemingly pleased by this new tease.

@rshah2611 expressed excitement that Daredevil’s new suit retained his signature red lenses that are usually in the comics, and were also present in earlier seasons of Daredevil.

Discussing Daredevil: Born Again as well as other upcoming Marvel projects, @MegaDriv3 seems cautiously optimistic that Daredevil’s return and other projects like Deadpool & Wolverine can help Marvel turn things around after a recent slump.

Similarly, @OctoriousYT expressed hope that the new show would live up to the previous seasons of Daredevil, praising Daredevil season 3 specifically for its action sequences.

@JaredFPS summed up the clip pretty succinctly in a single word, “hot,” that seems to echo how many fans are feeling about this very short look at Daredevil in the MCU.

While most fans seem excited about the short glimpse of Daredevil, others like @jamestgreyiv seemed slightly disappointed that it wasn’t much longer. However, this is typical as the clip was part of a larger presentation.

Similarly, @EricPellinen seemed disappointed that the clip wasn’t much longer, and didn’t really feature Daredevil doing anything too exciting. Fans will likely have to wait until a full official teaser is released to see this type of footage, as right now Marvel is only officially showing this to shareholders.

Why Getting Daredevil’s MCU Reintroduction Right Is So Important For Marvel Studios

Daredevil Is The First Marvel Netflix Series To Get An MCU Reboot

Charlie Cox as Daredevil in The Defenders in his red costume

The original Daredevil Netflix series was a big triumph for Marvel. Audiences seemed to enjoy its more mature tone, and the performances of Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio were some of the best Marvel had to offer. This has set expectations pretty high for the series’ continuation, Daredevil: Born Again, which will have to try and top the original series’ stellar season 3.

Daredevil was also used as a launching pad for Netflix’s Defenders Saga. Marvel may be looking to do something similar again, now that other actors from The Defenders have teased their return. Even if Marvel isn’t going to fully reboot every Netflix series, they do seem to be building up a roster of street-level heroes like The Punisher, Echo, Kate Bishop, and Spider-Man following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Marvel may be using Daredevil: Born Again to gauge interest in smaller-scale stories, so its success or failure could impact the type of stories Marvel tells going forward.

Marvel also shut down its dedicated TV division back in 2019 and restructured the way they tackle shows again in 2023. Daredevil: Born Again is a big release for Marvel, and will be a testament to how well this reorganization has affected the projects they turn out. Marvel’s expectations for Daredevil: Born Again are likely as high as fans’, so it will be important that the show succeeds if audiences want to continue exploring this section of the MCU.
