Daredevil: Born Again’s White Tiger MCU Arrival Teased By Charlie Cox: “Really Excited About That”

Charlie Cox's Daredevil next to Marvel's White Tiger

White Tiger’s Marvel Cinematic Universe debut gets teased by Charlie Cox at FanExpo Chicago ahead of Daredevil: Born Again. Next year, Cox will headline his own show again with Daredevil: Born Again, and old and new faces alike will be brought into the fold of the Disney+ drama. As revealed by footage screened at D23, White Tiger is a new hero who will appear on the show, as was heavily speculated after the character was spotted during production.

Screen Rant‘s Joe Deckelmeier recently hosted Cox’s panel at FanExpo Chicago (where Screen Rant is a media partner), where Cox was asked if there are any specific comic storylines that fans should check out in preparation for Daredevil: Born Again. The actor had to give a very careful answer. He teased a character that he is excited for the audience to meet, and the character does sound like White Tiger. Cox said:

No, I don’t think I can answer that either. But I mean, we don’t follow any of the comic books in terms of story. We don’t follow any of them closely, and there’s a number of reasons for that. One, because if you follow a storyline closely, it becomes a foregone conclusion because everyone knows how it ends. Those of you who saw the leaked trailer from D23 may have noticed a couple of interesting characters come up – I didn’t say it, you said it. The trailer’s now been taken down, so I’m not going to say anything.

I remember getting those scripts, and the character that I’m thinking about in particular right now, I remember when I read that [story] before I started doing Daredevil in 2014. I always thought that was a really cool storyline and such an interesting character; such an interesting dynamic between the two of them. That was really fun, and I’m really excited about that. And there are a couple of other nice little cameos that come up.

How Will White Tiger Fit Into Daredevil: Born Again?

Born Again Can Explore Street-Level Vigilantism

While Marvel Studios has been keeping Daredevil: Born Again plot details under wraps, there is a strong theory in place for how White Tiger, who is most likely going to be the Hector Ayala iteration, fits into the upcoming superhero show. The series is meant to serve as one of the biggest street-level focused projects of the MCU. Since Born Again will take place a couple of years after Daredevil season 3, the concept of vigilantes has likely grown substantially.

White Tiger is likely meant to serve as a way to show that vigilantes are now roaming the streets even more, and perhaps using Daredevil as inspiration. It is also very likely that the show will explore different philosophies of vigilantism in New York, since The Punisher will also return for the new series. Given how a Daredevil: Born Again set video with Punisher and White Tiger emerged online, those two will definitely clash at some point.

Other Daredevil characters returning for the new show include Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll), Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson), and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio).

As far as White Tiger’s place in the larger MCU is concerned, time will tell how Marvel Studios plans to utilize the character outside of Born Again. If they go down the legacy route, there is always the possibility that a White Tiger spinoff could be explored down the line. But for now, the world will have to tune in to Daredevil: Born Again in 2025 to find out more about White Tiger’s future in the MCU.
