Dafne Keen comments on how long she wants to continue in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actress first played the character in 2017’s Logan, returning to the role in the only MCU movie of 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine. Based on the movie’s success — it has become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time — and the overwhelmingly positive reception to Keen’s return, X-23 could stay in the franchise longer and have a future in the MCU’s slate of projects.
Speaking to Empire Magazine (via Comic Book Movie), Dafne Keen was enthusiastic about continuing to play X-23 in the MCU after Deadpool & Wolverine, saying, “I would 100% do this for the rest of my life.” Laura joined an exciting roster of multiverse characters in Deadpool & Wolverine, serving as a member of the Resistance in the Void. Based on Deadpool & Wolverine‘s ending, there is an easy way for Keen to come back for more as X-23.
What Dafne Keen’s MCU Future As X-23 Could Look Like
The Actress Could Stay In The Franchise For A Long Time
At the end of Deadpool & Wolverine, Keen’s X-23 was the only member of the Resistance who was shown out of the Void. The character came back to Deadpool’s universe, enjoying a meal with Wade Wilson’s friends while sitting next to Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. That setup makes her the most likely of the movie’s multiverse characters to return in another MCU movie, as she could team up with Deadpool and Wolverine when they next appear.
Based on the popularity of Keen’s X-23, her desire to come back for more, and how her character’s story in Deadpool & Wolverine ended, she is very likely to appear in at least one of the next two Avengers movies. 2026 sees the release of Avengers: Doomsday, while the Multiverse Saga ends with 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars. Keen and the rest of the Resistance could team up once again in the latter, appearing alongside other multiverse heroes. X-23, Deadpool, and Wolverine could also assist the MCU’s Avengers in Doomsday, fighting Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom as universes come crashing down.
With Keen’s desire to continue playing X-23 “for the rest of [her] life,” the actress could also stay in the MCU beyond the two Avengers movies. Marvel Studios is currently working on its X-Men reboot behind the scenes, with the first movie for the mutant team already having found a writer. At only 19, Keen could be a major part of the MCU’s X-Men movies, serving as either a Wolverine alongside Jackman’s Logan/a new actor or as Marvel Studios’ sole version of Wolverine. After Deadpool & Wolverine, Dafne Keen‘s MCU future is looking bright.
