Outer Banks star Chase Stokes gushed about his ex-girlfriend Madelyn Cline, fueling speculation he’s still not over her, despite their breakup.

Like many other celebrities, Chase Stoke, too, seemed to have found love on the sets of a project he worked on. This project was Outer Banks, and the one he fell in love with was none other than his co-star Madelyn Cline, who played his onscreen love interest despite the differences. But after more than a year of dating, this fan-beloved power couple reportedly decided to part ways.

While many feared this would affect their chemistry on the series, it really came as a nice surprise when things didn’t end up that way and the two continued to play onscreen lovers as efficiently as ever. But while that’s that, it’s starting to seem like Stokes might as well still not be over his ex-girlfriend, after taking into consideration what he actually had to say about Cline.

Chase Stokes’ Words Are Making it Seem He’s Still Not Over Madelyn Cline

In the teen drama Outer Banks, if Sarah Cameron were to crush everyone’s hearts and break up with John B and leave it at that, it would probably be a long, long time before the two could even think about moving on from each other. And it seems like the same is the case with the actors who brought these respective characters to life – at least for Chase Stokes.

Sometime after they were reported to have gone their separate ways, Stokes got into an interview with US Weekly to share his take on his ex-girlfriend Madelyn Cline now that they were no longer together. Surprisingly enough, his response was a rather sweet one as he revealed that the two of them had decided to be close and friendly, irrespective of their relationship status.

At Glenn Close and Bring Change to Mind’s ninth annual Revels & Revelations Gala in December 2021, Stokes’ reported words to US Weekly about Cline were: “She’s one of my favorite people on planet Earth. You know, it’s super awesome to work with somebody that you care about that much, and yeah, I’ll leave it at that.”

If looking from a general perspective, this response could leave a lot of fans amused, considering how these two became exes around a year after dating. Plus, even though they broke up, both Stokes and Cline acted as maturely as ever as they still continued to work together and play each other’s onscreen love interests in the action-adventure series.

Additionally, when asked about his official relationship status with the woman he started dating from Outer Banks, Stokes merely played coy and teased that he had “no comment” on this question. Of course, it could be that he only said this for the sake of upholding fans’ faith in them continuing to play onscreen lovers despite their fallout. But insider reports seem to hint differently.

A Source Claimed Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline’s Relationship Status is Unclear

Back in November 2021, reports from insiders swirled around that Stokes and Cline were “no longer together” and that “they were trying to work things out privately but broke up a couple of months ago” (see People). Further reports revealed that their “busy schedules” played a major role in their amicable breakup (see US Weekly).

However, a little while later, a source close to the two spilled to ET that the two young stars ultimately “both felt like they were trying to force themselves into being single” while trying to figure out things for themselves. To put it simply, while the pair reportedly weren’t full-on back on board together, they were still navigating through things. The source claimed:

“Madelyn and Chase care about one another. They felt like they had to be apart to get back on track and be together in the future. Their relationship was very serious before and right now, they’re slowly easing back into things and giving it another try. They’re not full on back together, but they’re taking it slow and seeing where things go.”

If these reports were accurate, then these would back up the speculation that Chase Stokes is, indeed, still not over his ex-girlfriend Madelyn Cline. But, then again, not all insider reports are always as accurate, and this could be just another claim that could turn out to be false. That said, fans might as well take this tidbit about Stokes and Cline’s relationship with a pinch of salt.
