Charlie Cox wants the fight scenes to look more cool with the use of CGI!
Charlie Cox is currently busy with Marvel Studios and the Marvel Cinematic Universe for the development of Daredevil: Born Again and fans are waiting ecstatically for its release.
However, the actor has one specific request that has gotten people just a tad bit concerned about the upcoming series. Charlie Cox wants the MCU to do one thing that Netflix didn’t allow in their version of Daredevil and that is CGI!
Charlie Cox Wants More CGI In Daredevil: Born Again
As if Marvel Studios isn’t doing enough of CGI. But no, what he means by that is that he wants more CGI in Daredevil: Born Again but on a grounded level, appropriate for Matt Murdock.
Appearing in Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Charlie Cox has gotten the world excited for the upcoming Daredevil series. However, most of the plot details have been kept under wraps.
Superheroes like Spider-Man and Daredevil are called street-level heroes who usually stop crime in a city. You wouldn’t see Spider-Man and Daredevil stopping an apocalyptic event on a regular day-to-day basis.
In an interview with GQ, here’s what Charlie Cox had to say about the usage of CGI in Daredevil: Born Again.
I guess what I would say is: hopefully, on the Disney+ show, Born Again, we will be able to use—and I hope that we do it sparingly, I believe it should be used sparingly—but we’ll hopefully be able to use a tiny bit more CGI in the action sequences.
He further continued, Just to emphasize his gymnastic abilities that have been basically impossible to do. It really should be sparingly. I don’t believe there should be complete action sequences that are almost all computer-generated.
So just to get a smoother and a touch of unreal fighting style, Cox wants to use CGI to give Daredevil just a dash of heroism and not just a martial artist with a suit.
As the interview further continued, Charlie Cox gave vague answers to the questions because he didn’t want to sound controversial in nature. However, it does seem that Netflix didn’t like the CGI usage for Daredevil at all!
Netflix’s Daredevil Had Minimal Use of CGI
It was the year 2015 when Netflix released Daredevil starring Charlie Cox in the lead role. Running for 3 seasons, Daredevil went on to become one of the most praised Netflix original series of all time.
However, it seems that Charlie Cox wasn’t given much CGI powers by Netflix while they were filming the series. As the interview further continued, Cox revealed that there were some limitations.
We can bookend it with these little moments. With the batons particularly, we could never really do anything in our show where Daredevil ricochets a baton off a wall and takes someone out because you can’t physically do that.
On the other hand, fans can surely expect that the MCU and Marvel Studios will take care to give sufficient CGI to Matt Murdock and his moves in Daredevil: Born Again.
At the moment, not many details have been made available to the public about the upcoming series. We only know that Vincent D’Onofrio will be reprising his role as Kingpin in the upcoming show.
Daredevil: Born Again is set for a release date in 2025 and will be available to stream on Disney+ in the U.S.
