Captain America Can’t Get Top Billing In His Own New Movie

It’s Ruth’s world and we’re all just living in it. Or, at least, that’s what McDonald’s is telling us. The restaurant’s new rollout of Captain America: Brave New World toys puts the ensemble character front and center – pushing Sam Wilson, aka Captain America, off behind her shoulder.

It’s an almost comical marketing choice for the Marvel film that has struggled to get up and running. It gives fans just another reason to roast the production in a project rife with punch lines.

The image in question shows the side of a kids’ meal box and features a handful of characters from next year’s Marvel flick, Captain America: Brave New World.

To the far left is Cap’s patriotic shield with Diamondback smirking next to it. In the middle is Ruth, aka Sabra, with Captain America and Red Hulk just over her left shoulder.

Flocking to the comments to share their hot takes on the fast food franchise’s choice in toys, one X subscriber wrote, “My question is how are they selling McDonalds toys for a film that hasn’t even had its first trailer yet!”

Another commented, “This is so weird lmao, also its interesting the new Falcon isnt there, I guess hes not playing that much of a role? Or they know he wont sell”.

This is the second time in recent history that fans have voiced their discontent with McDonald’s and Marvel’s marketing team-up. That’s because the companies seemingly dropped the spoiler that Red Hulk would be appearing in Captain America: Brave New World.

This is the second time in recent history that fans have voiced their discontent with McDonald’s and Marvel’s marketing team-up.

We’ve long known that Harrison Ford would take on the role of the newly elected President of the United States, Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, but it wasn’t completely clear whether the movie would introduce his big red alter ego to the fold.

However, thanks to McDonald’s, audiences don’t need to wait until the first bit of promo material begins to roll out as it’s clear the movie will bring Red Hulk to the front lines.

As one of the commenters mentioned, no trailers or anything of the like have been released for Captain America: Brave New World, which makes it that much more bizarre for McDonald’s to be jumping the gun for their latest line in Happy Meal add-ons.

The movie was initially set for a May 2024 release. This is likely why the fast food chain still pushed ahead with their plushie drop even though the superhero flick’s production has been slowly going off the rails for more than a year.

Now that the title is set for arrival on February 15, 2025, those who get their hands on the merchandise will just need to hold on to it for a full calendar year before it becomes relevant.

The new movie will pick up following the events that first got rolling during the final moments of Avengers: Endgame when Chris Evans’ Captain America passed his shield to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson.

Directed by Julius Onah, the movie will serve as the next chapter in the story of Sam Wilson’s decision to take on the Captain America moniker, a tale that began to unfold in the Disney+ and Marvel series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Along with Mackie and Ford, Captain America: Brave New World will also feature performances from Danny Ramirez, Tim Blake Nelson, Carl Lumbly, and Shira Haas – the latter of whom will appear as Ruth aka Sabra.
