Captain America: Brave New World Will Feature the Death of Steve Rogers: Chris Evans MCU Return Won’t Happen According to Marvel Theory

Steve Rogers could pass in a similar manner to his wife.

It has been over five years since Avengers: Endgame was first released. Many chapters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe have opened and closed since. However, there is no denying that a piece of their fans’ hearts went with the final minutes of the film. Many stories ended when the 2019 movie was released, and audiences were forced to say goodbye to several characters they grew up with.

While many’s fates were conclusive, including Tony’s and Natasha’s, others were left far more hazy and were explained in future projects. Hawkeye found his purpose, and Hulk found a partner in his anger. However, there is still one character whose status has had fans desperately curious; what happened to Steve Rogers?

Epilogue—Steve Rogers

While many questions about the mantle of Captain America were answered in Falcon and The Winter Solider, the fate of Steve Rogers, himself, was left unknown. Fans don’t know anything about where the character is, what he is doing, or if he is even alive. Even though five years have passed since Steve came back as an old man, the audience still does not know anything about him past the bench.

Chris Evans' Steve Rogers in Captain America: the First Avenger

With Captain America: Brave New World approaching, conversations surrounding the main character of the first three Captain America films are inevitable. There have been many theories about what could happen to his character, and a majority of them involve Chris Evans coming back to assume the mantle yet again. However, there may be another theory that seems more credible than that.

Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter’s happy ending in Avengers: Endgame (2019)

Very early in Captain America: Civil War, Peggy Carter is announced to be dead, having passed away in her sleep, off-screen. The method was quick but well-executed and became a rather emotional point in the entire story.

Knowing how Marvel loved to redo scenes with different characters to add emotional effect, it could be possible that Steve Rogers meets a similar fate in the upcoming movie. Such an execution would also be a perfect full-circle moment for his story, being the true end of an era.

The End of an Era

While many fans would not want Steve Rogers to be killed off-screen in a movie that would feel empty without him, there is no denying that such an end would be extremely poetic for him. On top of this, it would also bring about a different conclusion; the end of certain kinds of theories. Ever since Chris Evans left the role of Captain America, fans have been looking for some other opportunity for him to come back.

Evans as an older Steve Rogers in the film.

Their conversations seemed to have increased tenfold in recent months after Evans entered the limelight again and started talking about his iconic role. While it is safe to say that audiences would love for him to come back, it might completely go against what his character needs.

After years of fighting, running, and defending, perhaps, Cap just needs to rest. And his passing could bring an end to all of these theories, at least, for some time.
