People suggested that Beau DeMayo should handle the smooth transition of the X-Men into the MCU!
So, the X-Men are finally making their way down to Marvel Land where the villains are few and the universes are many. It only feels like yesterday when Beau DeMayo created and released the iconic animated show X-Men ’97. But there’s more!
With Wolverine joining claws with Deadpool, the character has paved the way for the X-Men universe and the MCU to merge. Naturally, a reboot of the X-Men movies is a must so that they can change the ending. With how gracefully Beau DeMayo created the animated show, fans only want him to lead the franchise further!
Fans Want Marvel’s Beau DeMayo To Lead The X-Men Franchise!
Well, he did do a pretty good job with the animated show X-Men ’97 and so, naturally, fans would expect Beau DeMayo to lead the franchise further. Alongside the show, DeMayo is also one of the writers of Netflix’s The Witcher franchise and The Witcher; Nightmare of the Wolf.
The point is, Beau DeMayo has a lot to his name. The creation and release of X-Men ’97 only increased his fame. It was recently reported by Deadline that screenwriter Michael Lesslie will be writing the story for the X-Men reboot before they join the MCU.
Another report by notable insider @DanielRPK stated that Michael Lesslie recently pitched the story of the X-Men reboot to the higher-ups. As per speculations, Lesslie’s story featured the same characters that Beau DeMayo had showcased in X-Men ’97. Upon hearing this news, fans took to X (formerly Twitter) and stated that it’s better if Beau DeMayo takes full control of the reboot now!
Surely, some fans are disappointed while others are happy that they will get to see their favorite characters on the big screens once again. However, the competition between originality and creativity comes to mind when people think about this allegedly exact roster.
On the other hand, Beau DeMayo wasn’t just concerned with the perfect script or the perfect story. With his show getting nominated for two awards, DeMayo had a proud moment when he talked about the importance of animation and cinema.
Beau DeMayo Wants People To Treat Animation As Cinema
Before the premiere of X-Men ’97, Beau DeMayo was fired for reasons unknown. Despite some hardships that he faced along the way, DeMayo revealed that he is extremely proud of what they achieved with the animated series.
It has often been observed that people do not consider animated shows and movies as seriously as live-action. Films like Soul and Inside Out have begun to change people’s ideas and Beau DeMayo also thinks that animation should be considered as serious as live-action.
When X-Men ’97 received nominations for TCA Awards in Outstanding New Program and Outstanding Achievement in Family Programming, DeMayo took to his X (formerly Twitter) and shared his happiness with the world.
Pretty amazing. One of my goals with the show was to show that animation can and should be treated as seriously as live action. To see [X-Men ’97] nominated with stellar live action shows like Shōgun means a lot.
It is now a game of wait-and-watch as to how this X-Men reboot turns out to be and whether X-Men ’97 will receive a second season or not. Without Beau DeMayo, there will be some difficulties but fans think that the MCU can handle it.
Upon its release, X-Men ’97 received a rating of 8.9/10 on IMDB and a whopping 99% on Rotten Tomatoes! With 10 episodes to its name, the iconic show is available to stream on Disney+ in the U.S.
