Blake Lively with Deadpool and Lady Deadpool

As Deadpool & Wolverine is releasing this week in theaters, Blake Lively may have just added more fuel to the fire that she is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As there will be multiple Deadpool variants in Deadpool & Wolverine, the MCU audience is eagerly waiting to see Wade Wilson with alternative versions of himself. The variant with perhaps the most attention on them currently is that of Lady Deadpool, who is also confirmed to be making her live-action debut in Deadpool & Wolverine.

The Deadpool & Wolverine cast is reaching the end of their press tour marketing the Phase 5 film, which has seen the actors field a number of questions, including about who may be cast as Lady Deadpool. In the meantime, Lively shared a new photo from the set of Deadpool & Wolverine, confirming that, at some point, she was with Reynolds during principal photography.

While jokingly saying she should be competitive for her new film, It Ends with Us, which opens three weeks from now, Lively showed support for her husband as he reprises the role of Deadpool for the first time since 2018’s Deadpool 2. There have been a lot of theories that Lively is actually in the Deadpool & Wolverine story, as she is speculated to be playing Lady Deadpool, with this photo potentially strengthening those theories.

Why Blake Lively As Lady Deadpool In Deadpool & Wolverine Would Make The Most Sense

Even though Marvel Studios hasn’t confirmed or denied whether Lively is in the movie, she would be the perfect candidate to play Lady Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine. Lively, who worked with Reynolds in 2011’s Green Lantern, has yet to make her debut in the Deadpool franchise ever since its start under 20th Century Fox. Since Deadpool & Wolverine is the conclusion of the trilogy, this would be the perfect timing for Lively to show up in some capacity.

Lady Deadpool would also be a very different role for Lively, as she doesn’t work as often in the superhero genre or a larger-than-life universe like the MCU. Seeing Lively share comedic and sassy banter with Reynolds with their respective Deadpools in Deadpool & Wolverine would genuinely be funny, especially as Wade discovers that in another universe, there is a female Deadpool. While Green Lantern wasn’t a success, it would be great to see Lively and Reynolds together in a comic book movie that, this time, does get to emerge as a win.

Given how Taylor Swift is confirmed to not appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, Lively makes the most sense at this point to take on the role of Lady Deadpool. With Lively’s recent post, the chances of her being in Deadpool & Wolverine definitely went up, since she could have easily filmed something while on set. As Deadpool & Wolverine premieres in a few days, the Lady Deadpool mystery will be answered very soon.
