Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy’s mutual agreement saved ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’

Ryan Reynolds Deadpool and Wolverine

Good luck imagining Deadpool & Wolverine without a rated-R certification. To everyone’s surprise, Disney was open to the idea of going against their very ideals of containing their movies as PG as possible. But Ryan Reynolds, who was exclusively involved in the creative process of the movie, also made changes to the original draft.

New reports surrounding the movie suggest that after the reshoot, Deadpool & Wolverine was far better than the previous version. Directed by the director of Free Guy and The Adam Project and long-time collaborator of Reynolds, Shawn Levy was in agreement to make the necessary changes following the wrap of the movie.

A still from the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer.

Ryan Reynolds was born to play the character of Deadpool. With the latest installment to the franchise Deadpool & Wolverine, the movie series is getting far more buzz and popularity, thanks to Hugh Jackman, who brought back Wolverine after retiring the character in Logan.

Wolverine’s return has certainly been one of the crucial moments in the film, for it caused this wave of discussion since its announcement. Reynolds, who wrote the script alongside Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, and director Shawn Levy, reportedly wasn’t satisfied with the initial version of the movie. As per The Den of Nerds, the reshoot of the movie paid off big time. “We know that they have been doing some re-shoot,”  The Den of Nerds host said.

I think that a new version of the movie has been recently screened it’s real good it’s real good. It’s somehow even better than it was like I don’t know 2 months ago or something like that and uh yeah I think they really really have something some surprises some things that are going to catch us off guard and that’s all I’m saying.

Beyond his acting in the film, Reynolds’ active involvement in the creative process added new layers to the narrative as it is clearly visible in the teasers and trailer of the film. Regardless, Deadpool & Wolverine has promised to be a treat for fans.

Hugh Jackman's return is one of the main draws for Deadpool & Wolverine

The prowess of Deadpool & Wolverine is self-explanatory, but Reynolds assured that they have been very careful with the movie. As Reynolds said, they have done their best to protect the legacy of the title characters, especially Jackman’s Wolverine, who played the character for over 24 years. “I remember screen the first day that Hugh and I were in a scene together in the movie,” Reynolds told Fandango.

And we had, we had sort of walked down this kind of road together and uh, we were standing side by side. I remember a bunch of, I’ve never had this in my life, a bunch of crew members came up and one said that was the best day of my life. I mean so you realize how much seeing those two guys together seeing ketchup and mustard together up on the big screen is means to people and it’s, um, it’s something we don’t take lightly at all. You know? so we’re very careful when we’re talking about in the movie certainly when we’re talking about Legacy of Wolverine. I mean, we get all over Deadpool’s legacy f*ck but we’re very careful with that one and how it relates characters.

Deadpool & Wolverine is set to be one of the huge summer releases of the year. The movie has already teased several Easter eggs and canonization of several X-Men characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But beyond that, the movie is not just a sparkle of green screen action, it was shot in a real location to sustain the authentic vibe of the movie.

Deadpool & Wolverine is slated for July 26 release.
