Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Officially Vacate Frogmore Cottage

Saucy details have emerged of why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were forced to give up their Royal home.

According to Omid Scobie’s book “Endgame”, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were booted out of Frogmore Cottage in Home Park in Windsor “as they were no longer working royals or based in Britain, they needed to give up the keys to their royal rental”.

An eviction notice was delivered to the couple via Sir Michael John Stevens, Buckingham Palace’s the Keeper of the Privy Purse, the New York Post reports.

The Invictus Games founder allegedly angrily called up his father King Charles soon after and shot back: “You don’t want to see your grandchildren anymore?”

The pair are parents to son Archie, 5, and daughter Lilibet, 3.

Charles began proceedings to kick the Sussexes out of Frogmore Cottage just one day after Harry’s tell-all memoir “Spare” hit shelves.

According to the Daily Mail, in the days leading up to the publication of the bombshell book in January 2023, the Prince gave interviews with ITV and CBS.

Mr Scobie’s book “Endgame” claimed the Palace demanded to see the full footage of the CBS interview “before making any comments”.

The show refused to and insisted it was “something we never do”.

Instead of releasing a public comment, “King Charles made his feelings clear in private, despite not having read a page of the book”.

Harry and Markle moved to Montecito, California in 2020 and had used Frogmore as their UK residence when they would return on visits to Britain.

Frogmore was gifted to the couple by the late Elizabeth Queen when they got married in 2018.

It underwent significant renovations – costing taxpayers a reported £2.4 million ($A4.29 million) – before they eventually moved in.

As of July last year, the property was still empty after the Sussexes moved out.

The disgraced Duke of York has been adamant about staying at the luxurious 30-room mansion, where he has lived since 2002 with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson.

The scandal-ridden prince still has around 50 years remaining on his lease of Royal Lodge.

Andrew signed a 75-year deal on the residence and agreed to pay £250 a week in rent for the property.

Sources told Mr Scobie that Charles’s reaction to Harry’s memoir and actions were a key factor in changing out the residents of Frogmore and reducing the number of properties the royal family uses.

A source previously claimed to the Evening Standard that the Sussexes losing Frogmore was just the ‘tip of the iceberg’ of Charles’s attempt to manage a slimmed down monarchy.
