However, some critics have pointed out that she and Prince Harry did not postpone or delay their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey knowing full well that Prince Philip was seriously ill at the time.

Noting the contrast between Meghan’s two decisions, a royal expert suggested that she seemed to prioritize her own interests in the case of the Oprah interview.

Writing for Daily Mail, royal expert Richard Eden penned, “One friend of the royals pointed out to me this week that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex allowed their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey to be broadcast in 2021 even though Prince Philip was seriously ill in hospital.”

Citing the source, he added, “Meghan seemingly didn’t think twice about going ahead with the Oprah interview, did she?”
