Avengers 5 Reportedly Abandoning Jonathan Majors to “focus on other multiversal villains before dealing with Kang again”

Marvel abandons Kang the Conqueror in the search for other multiversal villains for Avengers 5.

Most Marvel fans are at their wit’s end because they are absolutely clueless about Kang following the dismissal of Jonathan Majors from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The actor was found guilty of assault and harassing his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Sadly, the actor’s exit from the superhero franchise had brought Avengers 5 to a standstill.

Jonathan Majors was fired from MCU after proven guilty at the court.

Jonathan Majors was supposed to be the next big bad villain for the two upcoming Avengers films, that is Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

While the film came to a dead stop for quite some time, it looks like Marvel Studios went back to the planning board and decided to pull the plug on Majors’ Kang the Conqueror for the time being. Since MCU is reportedly looking to focus on other villains than the one they had initially planned.

Marvel Abandons Jonathan Majors’ Kang To Focus on Avengers 5

Jonathan Majors’ portrayal of He Who Remains in Loki Season 1 and his cameo as Kang the Conqueror gave a glimpse of the threat he is going to pose to the superheroes in the coming Marvel Phases. The expectation came true when he portrayed the main villain of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, raising the stakes for the upcoming Marvel projects.

Jonathan Majors sacking from MCU brought Avengers 5 to a halt

However, all the plans were derailed over his guilty verdict, resulting him in getting dropped not only by his representatives but also by the MCU. Moreover, several reports stated that Luke James would replace the Creed III actor as Kang but he refused.

In a new report coming from Cosmic Circus, Alex Perez answers the most burning question related to Kevin Feige’s Marvel Cinematic Universe, where the insider stated that Marvel Studios wants to focus on other villains as of now, and they later come back to Kang the Conqueror.

Marvel is now potentially looking for another big villain

Perez said, I have heard they want to focus on other multiversal villains before dealing with Kang again.

The insider also mentioned the possibility that other actors might helm the abandoned role as a potential variant, but he has heard nothing of that kind. He added, It’s possible, but I’ve heard nothing of the sort.

Since Marvel has shifted their attention to other multiversal threats, it would be a fantastic idea if the new villain would be Anthony Stark popularly known as Superior Iron Man from Earth-517.

Moreover, this would suffice another theory of how Robert Downey Jr. wants to return to the MCU to play his iconic role.

The Hopes of Doctor Doom To Be Marvel’s Next Villain Is Slim

After Kang the Conqueror, the next possible option would have been Doctor Doom. In the comic books, the character has always been an arch nemesis of The Fantastic Four. Moreover, the antagonist has often come in contact with other heroes such as Black Panther, Spider-Man, and The Avengers as well.

Doctor Doom would have been a good alternative for Kang the Conqueror

Hence, The Supreme Leader of Latveria would have been a pretty strong candidate to be the main villain in the upcoming Avengers films. However, in the same report from Cosmic Circus, the idea of Doctor Doom being the main villain has been shot down because of the “little time” we have to build up his character. Perez said,

really don’t think Doom will be the main villain in this Saga, given the little time we have to build him up. It would be a disservice to us, to the character, and quite frankly a waste. Doom deserves better than 1 movie to set him up in a post-credit scene and then big bad for 2 movies and then be done with him. Plus, I’ve heard they’re treating Doom similar to how they’ve handled Loki in the Infinity Saga.

Sadly the terrifying villain would be given the Loki treatment that is he will be depicted as an anti-hero sort of character, and he will work with the heroes as long as their goals align. Nevertheless, none of the Marvel fans want to see a happy Doctor Doom becoming a hero in the MCU.

Avengers 5 is set to release in theatres on 1 May 2026.
