Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are at the centre of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new project to protect children, GB News’s Digital Royal Editor has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have discussed the online threats facing children in a formal broadcast interview.

Speaking on CBS News Sunday Morning, the couple drew on their own experience as parents, saying all they wanted to do was “protect” their son Archie, five, and daughter Lilibet, three.

Prince Harry added that “one of the scariest things” was knowing that any parent could lose a child to suicide as a result of exposure to harmful content.

The pair recently launched a new programme called The Parents Network, which aims to support parents and guardians who have been affected by the issue.

“Our kids are young, they are three and five, they’re amazing, but all you want to do as parents is protect them,” Meghan said.

“And so as we can see what’s happening in the online space, we know that there’s a lot of work to be done there and we’re just happy to be a part of change for good.”

Prince Harry said that it has reached a point where almost every parent has to be “a first responder”.

Cameron Walker praised Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s new ‘charitable cause’

In this week’s episode of The Royal Record podcast, GB News’s Royal Correspondent Cameron Walker said: “[Meghan’s] critics have already started to point the finger at Meghan, saying she’s making all of this about herself, which I don’t think is particularly fair, but I can see perhaps where they’re coming from as well.”

Svar Nanan-Sen, the Digital Royal Editor, responded: “Yes, I think Meghan and Harry both stressed in the interview that this was motivated by their love for their own children, their desire to protect them and also to help other parents protect their children.

“We heard Meghan mention Archie and Lilibet, she described them as amazing.

“She also said, ‘All you want to do as a parent is to protect them. So when we see what’s happening in the online space, we know there’s a lot of work to be done.’

“Prince Harry then followed that up by saying that, ‘Parents now need to be first responders in helping their children tackle these issues.’

“So for me, what came across was a desire to protect Archie and Lilibet and also help other parents protect their children.”

Cameron: “Yes. Again, it’s a charitable cause, not focusing too much on themselves and a worthy cause, which I think the world really can get behind.

“It’s almost as if they’re working members of the Royal Family again, albeit on their own terms in California.”
