Anne Hathaway Will Play A Trad Wife In New Thriller 'Yesteryear'

The trad wife lifestyle has had a mainstream resurgence of sorts in recent years, especially with the rise of content creators like Nara Smith. I know I’ve lost many hours getting lost in trad wife content so it may come as no surprise that Hollywood is also getting in on this action and making a film based on the world of trad wives – but with a dark twist. Think The Stepford Wives mixed with Black Mirror.

Based on the upcoming Caro Claire Burke novel of the same name, Yesteryear is the new trad wife thriller that will have us on the edge of our seats. The even better news? Anne Hathaway is confirmed to star and produce the film adaptation.

The book follows Natalie, a woman who lives a traditional lifestyle with a beautiful farmhouse, charming husband and six delightful children. So what if there are nannies and producers and industrial-grade ovens behind the scenes? What Natalie’s followers don’t know won’t hurt them…

“Then, one morning, Natalie wakes up in a strange, horrible version of reality. Her daughter informs her that the year is 1805. Is this a hoax? A reality show? A test from God? One thing Natalie does know is that it’ll make one hell of an Instagram post,” reads the book’s synopsis.

As the film has just been announced (and the book is due for publication in 2026), we’ll likely have to wait quite a while until this thriller lands on our screens.
