Alexandra Breckenridge has some big acting news to share — and it’s something that fans will definitely be excited about.

With Virgin River officially coming back for season 7 on Netflix, it’s likely viewers will want to see their favorite cast members ahead of time. Well, Alexandra is adding another credit to her acting catalog, and she decided to share the big news while appearing on the popular Broad Ideas podcast on January 20.

Speaking to co-host and actress Rachel Bilson about what projects she has in the works, Alexandra announced she was actually working on a new movie for Netflix. What’s more, production on the film is starting up in February 2025, and she shared her excitement about her latest role in between working on new Virgin River installments.

“I’m actually going out in February to do another movie for Netflix, which I was like, oh, this might be insane,” she said about the next phase of her career. “I don’t know what I’m doing to myself, but I’m so grateful to have the work because I know that there’s not a lot of work right now … The opportunity came up, and I was like, absolutely! I’m gonna make it work no matter what, because I’m just so grateful to be in the position that I’m in right now.”

But that’s not all Alexandra said on her new movie. She gave more details on the January 25th episode of her own I Like You Very Much podcast, saying she was filming the new project in British Columbia, Canada. And while she’s not allowed to share any details about the movie, Netflix delivered a little gem that allowed us to figure out what she’s working on.

According to Netflix’s Tudum, Alexandra is set to star in a new holiday movie called My Secret Santa. Additionally, she will be joined by Ryan Eggold, Tia Mowry, Madison MacIsaac and Diana Maria Riva. As far as what the premise of the movie is, the project will follow a single mom who needs to find herself a job during the holidays. This leads her to disguise herself as a man, so she can be hired as Santa in a luxury ski resort. But like most Netflix holiday movies, a romance is also brewing — and this time it’s between the single mom and the hotel manager, who has no idea she’s the local Santa.

And let’s not forget — Alexandra only has a small window of time before going back to Virgin River. As her co-star Tim Matheson revealed in an interview with What’s on Netflix, production for season 7 begins in March 2025 — leaving just a few weeks until she steps back into Virgin River for an entire new phase in her character Mel Monroe’s life.

No matter the case, we can’t wait to see what Alexandra is up to next!
