Moon Knight’s Blu-ray release has caused speculation that Marvel Studios may be developing a second season, which could solve several MCU mysteries.

Recent speculation suggests that Marvel Studios may be developing Moon Knight season 2, and the series’ continuation could answer unsolved mysteries from Phase 4 of the MCU. Marvel Studios’ Moon Knight premiered on Disney+ on March 30, 2022, and ran for six episodes, exploring the story of Oscar Isaac’s Marc Spector, a mercenary with dissociative identity disorder who is also the avatar of Egyptian God Khonshu. Khonshu forges Spector into the vigilante Moon Knight, who comes into conflict with Ethan Hawke’s Arthur Harrow. Despite being one of the Multiverse Saga’s most popular additions, Moon Knight’s MCU future is still unclear.

Although Marvel Studios is yet to confirm the development of Moon Knight season 2, recent updates have spurred theories that the series may indeed continue. Casting judgment on the Gods, Harrow seemingly killed them all, though it’s disputed whether the actual Gods were killed, or just their human avatars, which they use to communicate. Considering that the Ennead Gods don’t seem to physically leave their avatars’ bodies, it’s possible they are truly dead, which will have a huge impact on the Egyptian Pantheon, so the aftermath of this massacre could be interesting to explore in Moon Knight season 2.

6. What Happened Between Arthur Harrow & Khonshu?

Arthur Harrow Was Khonshu’s Previous Avatar

Over the duration of Moon Knight, Marc Spector and Steven Grant learn more about Arthur Harrow, the mysterious follower of Ammit. Harrow reveals that he was the previous avatar of Khonshu, and his last Moon Knight, though despite knowing a great deal about the Egyptian God, and displaying a bitterness towards him, Harrow’s relationship with Khonshu wasn’t really explored in any detail. This could be prime ground for Moon Knight season 2’s storyline, as not much about the mythology of the Fist of Khonshu has yet been revealed, so focusing on a previous holder of the title could be exciting.

After epic final battles between Moon Knight and Arthur Harrow, and between Khonshu and Ammit, Marc Spector and Layla El-Faouly trap Ammit’s spirit inside Harrow’s body, and have Harrow incarcerated in a mental institution. However, even though Spector and Grant believed their deal with Khonshu to be done, a mysterious third alter released Harrow from his imprisonment and shot the villain, seemingly ending both Harrow and Ammit. If Arthur Harrow’s judgment of the Ennead Gods killed them dead, the same could be said for Harrow and Ammit, but this can be more clearly explained in Moon Knight’s potential season 2.

4. Is Layla El-Faouly Still A Superhero In The MCU?

Layla El-Faouly Became The Avatar Of Taweret In Moon Knight Season 1

Moon Knight’s finale saw a new superhero burst onto the scene, as May Calamawy’s Layla El-Faouly, Marc Spector’s estranged wife, became the avatar of the Egyptian God Taweret, and transformed into the Scarlet Scarab. As the MCU’s first Egyptian superhero, the Scarlet Scarab would be an incredibly powerful asset to future Avengers teams and storylines in Moon Knight season 2, but May Calamawy hasn’t yet been confirmed to be returning to the MCU. It’s very likely that, if Moon Knight season 2 does happen, Layla El-Faouly’s Scarlet Scarab will return, but only time will tell if this comes to fruition.
