The end XO, Kitty season 2 sets up one romantic pairing for Kitty Song-Covey, but the story also provides all the foundational pieces for a significant romance twist in season 3. Although the second season focuses on more than just romance, the show still maintains its romantic comedy roots, exploring multiple XO, Kitty potential romances. The two featured most heavily are Kitty’s love for Yuri, which takes up the first half of the season, and her growing feelings towards Min Ho, which takes up the second half.
Even though Kitty turned down Min Ho before XO, Kitty season 2, she has a turning point around halfway through the season, where she starts to see him in a different light. She finally recognizes her feelings for Min Ho in the penultimate episode. Despite her inability to admit her feelings, the ending of XO Kitty season 2 sets up Min Ho and Kitty as the expected couple for season 3, as Kitty goes with Min Ho on Jun Ho’s summer tour. However, the show also secretly lays the groundwork for another relationship.
Yuri & Juliana Get The Closure They Need
Yuri Can Finally Turn Her Attention To Kitty After Getting Closure With Juliana

Disregarding the fact that they cheat in XO, Kitty season 2 – which is out of character for both of them and problematic Sapphic representation – neither Kitty nor Yuri seem like they would be okay with getting into a relationship unless Yuri and Juliana had closure. Yuri needs to see that Juliana has moved on so that she can commit to a potential relationship with Kitty. Since each season follows a semester at KISS, there’s time for Yuri to process her heartbreak before seeing Kitty again. The fact that they’re amicable also eases Yuri’s guilt about the way they broke up.
In a similar vein, Kitty supports Juliana and Yuri to a fault in XO, Kitty seasons 1 and 2, putting their relationship ahead of her own feelings. She would undoubtedly feel guilty about starting a relationship with Yuri if Yuri and Juliana were on bad terms. By giving Yuri and Juliana closure, they hint at a possible Yuri and Kitty relationship in XO, Kitty season 3, if the third season gets picked up by Netflix.
XO, Kitty season 2 has received backlash for the way they portray Sapphic women and the perpetuation of lesbian and bisexual stereotypes.
Yuri Performs A Grand Gesture For Kitty In XO, Kitty Season 2
Grand Gestures Are The Pinnacle Of Love In XO, Kitty And To All The Boys
Both To All The Boys and XO, Kitty make a big deal out of grand gestures as a sign of love. Lara Jean talks about how that’s what everyone hopes for in Always & Forever. Meanwhile, Kitty brings up the importance of grand gestures in the first season when she’s helping Yuri get back in contact with Juliana. At the end of XO, Kitty season 2, Q points out that Min Ho and Kitty have some kind of epic thing going on because they each made a grand gesture for each other.
XO, Kitty could be foreshadowing a romantic relationship between Kitty and Yuri in a future season by integrating grand gestures for the Sapphic pairing.
However, the second season also includes Yuri performing two grand gestures for Kitty. The first started at the end of XO, Kitty season 1, with the phone call to her mom about Kitty staying at KISS, but the start of the second season confirms she’s coming back. The second grand gesture happens in XO, Kitty season 2, episode 6, “Kiss and Make Up.” When Jiwan ghosts Kitty, Yuri tracks down Kitty’s cousin, shows up at her house, and convinces her to give Kitty a second chance. Her actions were just as integral to healing the rift in Kitty Song-Covey’s family.
Because Min Ho’s grand gesture is more flashy, Yuri’s grand gestures don’t seem as big or noticeable. That doesn’t make them meaningless, though. XO, Kitty could be foreshadowing a romantic relationship between Kitty and Yuri in a future season by integrating grand gestures for the Sapphic pairing.
XO, Kitty Continues To Parallel Kitty & Yuri With Peter & Lara Jean
XO, Kitty Season 2 Offers More Parallels Between The Spinoff Couple And The OG Couple

The second season tries to establish these kinds of parallels between Kitty and Min Ho, giving them a parallel track scene and the hot tub scene. However, this doesn’t mean XO, Kitty season 2 just drops the Yuri and Kitty parallels. In To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Peter only learns about Lara Jean’s feelings when a stolen love letter is released. He initially rejects her. The spinoff TV show parallels this by having Yuri learn about Kitty’s feelings through a stolen love letter, and she rejects Kitty.
Though the show might still make Min Ho and Kitty end game based on the ship’s popularity, the continued parallels serve as a hint that they plan to explore Yuri and Kitty as a couple, not just friends. So far, all they’ve gotten is a kiss. With how fast Kitty jumps in and out of love, it wouldn’t be outlandish for her to go back to Yuri in XO, Kitty season 3.
