Netflix’s XO, Kitty has returned for season two – but what happened at the end?

Netflix’s romantic drama XO, Kitty has finally returned for its second season after a long two-year wait.

The show, which is based on Jenny Han’s popular To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before book series, made its comeback on January 16.

The series stars Anna Cathcart and follows the life of 16 year old matchmaker Kitty as she navigates through young adulthood and the quest for true love at the Korean International School of Seoul (KISS).

In the previous semester, audiences witnessed Kitty’s split with her first love Dae (Minyeong Choi) and a shocking love confession from Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee). Season two continues with Kitty being newly single and trying to learn more about her mother’s life before her death.

As fans are already binge-watching the new season, here’s a recap of the season two finale and whether there will be a third season, reports the Mirror.

Kitty’s journey of self-discovery culminates in a happy ending in the finale. Throughout the season, she is determined to reconcile her grandmother and great-aunt, who have been estranged for decades.

In the eighth episode, Kitty finally finds out that they have agreed to meet each other. Her sister Margot shares the news via FaceTime and quickly hangs up to book plane tickets.

While the Covey sisters are preparing for the reunion, Stella (Audrey Huynh) is manipulating her boyfriend Min Ho to ensure she wins his father’s Young Talent Showcase.

The new baddie on the block, introduced at the start of the season, cozies up to Min Ho with an ulterior motive to get close to his talent manager dad.

Early on in the series, it’s revealed that Stella, who is actually Esther, faced a harsh critique from judge Young Moon during her childhood audition on his X-Factor-style show.

Her grand scheme? To bring down the Moon family empire by spreading scandalous stories about them on social media. In a bid to ensure her Talent Show win, Stella blackmails with a bombshell: she’ll spill to the media that Min Ho’s brother, Joon Ho, has a pregnant backup dancer.

Kitty, upon learning of Stella’s machinations, can’t help but be a tad admiring, remarking: “D*mn, ten points for Slytherin.”

Yet, she’s determined to thwart Stella’s plans, declaring: “I am not afraid of some freak dressed in sheep’s clothing. If she wants to mess with my friends, I will drop kick that b*** faster than she can say ‘Have a blessed day.'”

Stella doesn’t stop at threats; she actively undermines her rivals. She hands Dae’s dancers a dodgy drink leading to their pre-performance illness and meddles with Eunice’s footwear, resulting in an onstage mishap.

Meanwhile, Kitty concocts a rescue operation. She rallies her crew to back Dae as emergency dancers and advises Joon Ho to beat Stella to the punch by going public with the pregnancy story himself.

Joon Ho’s surprise proposal to his backup performer throws a wrench in Stella’s plans, leading to her elimination from the competition and Eunice taking the crown.

Meanwhile, the Covey family reunion hits a snag when Margot announces her flight is canceled. But thanks to Min Ho’s wealthy father, they score a ride on a private jet for a heartwarming family gathering.

Kitty secures another year at KISS with a renewed Your Heritage scholarship, but who captures her heart?

Kitty almost lets him leave without sharing her feelings, but her inner voice admits, “Maybe it’s not our time, not yet.”

She musters the courage to ask if she can accompany him on tour, leaving fans hanging and hopeful for a third season to see where their relationship goes.
