The Little Mermaid, featuring Halle Bailey, debuted not too long ago and also received significant criticism for poor CGI, visuals, and lack of significant changes that would actually impact the plot. Snow White has been postponed from 2024 to 2025 following controversy surrounding the latter due to lead actress Rachel Zegler’s criticism of the themes in the original Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, themes deeply ingrained in the beloved tale cherished by many.

Perhaps Disney’s reliance on nostalgia, coupled with altering or removing key elements that initially drew people to the movies, could be contributing to their lagging success. Perhaps churning out new fresh stories might help the brand.
