We miss you, Queen!
Prime Video ’s hit superhero show is rich with memorable characters, who make it worth a watch alone, without speaking about the top-notch humor and the intricacies of the plot.
Yes, both The Boys ’ protagonists, antagonists and even double-sided personalities are all unique here. Among them, of course, is Margaret Shaw, aka Queen Maeve, a veteran member of The Seven who possesses superhuman strength and reflexes.
Played by Dominique McElligott, Maeve switched to The Boys’ side in Season 3 and would be really useful in their battle against Victoria Neuman, however, she hasn’t appeared in the latest season at all.
The point is, in the third season’s finale Queen Maeve faked her death after fighting with Homelander and stopping Soldier Boy from eliminating The Boys. The superwoman arranged it all like she sacrificed herself and lost her powers, but in fact she didn’t die.
The fandom can recall that Vought CEO Ashley Barrett found the evidence that Maeve and her girlfriend Elena decided to start a new life as ordinary people and that the Boys helped them hide, while the whole world still mourns their Queen.
Why Did Maeve Survive?
The straight-forward answer can be given by the assumptions that she could have been saved from falling off the Vought building by any of The Boys, but the fair question is why the showrunners kept her alive.
Some Redditors claim “they need her role for future seasons,” as voiced by @Weak_Impression_7656, while another part of the fandom doubts it. “Feels like they intend to shelve her and let her live a normal life outside of the shows plot now,” says @We_The_Raptors.
Will Maeve Return in The Boys?
It may come as a surprise, but the showrunner Eric Kripke himself admitted we’d see Queen Maeve one more time. “We definitely won’t reach the end of the series without seeing Maeve again,” he assured, hinting at the possibility of Soldier Boy returning, too.
Maeve hasn’t shown up yet in Season 4, however, she can return for the upcoming episode or even for the 5th and final season of the show, where she can kick some asses.
The finale of The Boys Season 4 will be aired on Prime already tomorrow, on July 18.
