This guest was immediately “knighted” while This Morning was broadcasting
This Morning viewers were left praising one guest after his interview with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary during Tuesday’s show. The two presenters spoke to Britain’s oldest teacher, Dr Neville Brown, as he celebrates his 90th birthday.
Alison informed people watching that Dr. Brown made it his mission to support children with dyslexia when he opened Maple Hayes Hall School in Lichfield in 1982.
Alison thanked him for all he’d done and asked why dyslexia was so important to him. He replied, “I wasn’t dyslexic at all. I did well at school, but mid-career, I went out and did an MST in psychology of education.”
He explained that a researcher ahead of him in the department said dyslexia was an intractable problem. Dr. Brown added, “Well if it’s intractable, you may as well give up and go home. So I set about tackling it a different way.”
However, during their chat, Alison and Dermot told Dr Brown they had a special surprise for him for his 90th birthday as a video clip started to play with students from his school.
In the clip, ITV fans saw the students praise Britain’s oldest teacher as one 12-year-old commented: “I feel that Dr Brown is really helpful in everything that I do, and I’m really pleased that he had the idea for this school.”
Another 15-year-old pupil added, “My old school didn’t really help, to be honest. If I didn’t come here, I don’t know where I’d be. Thank you, Dr. Brown.”

The compliments continued from more students, teachers, and even parents at the school while Dr Brown watched on in delight, smiling at the sweet messages he received.
When the clip wrapped up, Alison commented on how lovely the video was, and Dr Brown’s son, who was also speaking to the two ITV hosts, agreed. He replied, “Ah, that’s great. I hope they keep me going until 100.”
It wasn’t long before people watching took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the sweet surprise. One person said: “Two lovely gentlemen with hearts of gold.”

One viewer said: “He’s just a genuine caring man.” Another added: “Awwww he’s so happy receiving the video messages.”
Another tweeted: “Give him a knighthood for services to education. #ThisMorning.” One viewer said, “What a lovely, lovely man.”
This Morning continues weekdays on ITV from 10am.
