After much anticipation, XO, Kitty, the To All The Boys spinoff series, finally hit Netflix on May 18. Led by Teen Vogue’s May 2023 cover star Anna Cathcart, the YA show follows the youngest of the Song Covey family as she travels to South Korea to reunite with her first love, where twists and turns await.

You might think the revelations are reserved for the screen, but the stars of XO, Kitty, were also privy to some real-life discoveries: including the fact that two of the main castmates are real-life siblings. Yes, Gia Kim and Sang Heon Lee, who play Yuri and Min Ho on the show, are IRL siblings.

If you didn’t know, fret not because the cast didn’t know either at the beginning of filming. Minyeong Choi recounted the story to Teen Vogue’s Sara Delgado in a new interview, and, in true Gen Z fashion, they all found out via text.

Once the final cast had been solidified and after spending weeks doing chemistry tests and various other rehearsals over Zoom, Cathcart, Choi, and Lee created a group chat to sort out the details of their first real-life meet-up in Seoul. While adding new members, Lee asked if he could include his sister in the GC, which, understandably, took the other actors aback.

“I was like, ‘What?’ Of course, I want to meet my cast’s family too, but not on the first day and not in our first meeting,” Choi told Teen Vogue. “[Then] Sang Heon was like, ‘Oh, actually, she’s playing Yuri.’ And then I was like, ‘What?!'”

Yep, that was exactly our reaction finding out, too. Of course, there were some clues sprinkled online. Both actors have the Hong Kongese and Korean flags on their Instagram bios, and if you spend some time on their feeds, you’ll discover that Jen Arnold, one of the directors of XO, Kitty, actually spilled the beans a while back. Back in September of 2022, Kim posted a photo of herself in a café in LA, giving photo credit to Lee. “Wait… is your bro in town?” Arnold commented.

They might not share much screen time together on XO, Kitty, but Kim and Lee’s bond is undeniably strong. Hopefully, we get to see them more together on-screen if season 2 gets greenlit. (Paging Netflix!)
