The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power actor Charlie Vickers revealed that his favourite Indian cricketer is Virat Kohli. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, the Australian star confessed to being a massive cricket fan and named Virat as his favourite player outside of the Australian team. Charlie also shared that he once crossed paths with Virat but admitted he was too nervous to approach him.

“I once walked by Virat Kohli in a hotel in Auckland, and that was really surreal. So I’ll say him because of that encounter,” Charlie told us exclusively. When asked if he had the chance to greet him, the TROP star admitted, “No, I was too nervous.”

Charlie also mentioned that his introduction to Bollywood was through Brett Lee. He noted that the former Australian cricketer, who sang a song with Indian singer Asha Bhosle, helped him learn a little about Bollywood through this collaboration. “I’ve never had the chance to explore Indian cinema, but my only way into Bollywood has been through cricketers because cricket is so massive in India, and I’m a big cricket fan in Australia. There was an Australian fast bowler named Brett Lee, who became quite big in the Bollywood scene as a musician. Brett Lee is my window into Bollywood; I have to learn more about it,” he said.

Although the cast of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power visited India during the promotions of the first season, Charlie couldn’t join them. During our chat, the actor revealed that the cast members who visited the country raved about their trip. “I was in Mexico City when they were in Mumbai, and it was an amazing trip to Mexico City. But the Mumbai trip, that half of the cast, speaks so fondly of their time there. It’s become famous among the cast for how good the trip was,” he said.

Seated with him in the same interview was Charles Edwards. The English actor was one of the many stars from Rings of Power who visited India in 2022. During the chat, Charles revealed that if he had the chance to travel to India again, he would ask the chefs at the Taj Mahal Hotel to prepare the lavish lunch they made for him in 2022. He recommended that Charlie experience the spread as well.

“I would ring the Taj Mahal Hotel and request them to please arrange the lunch they arranged for us before. I would take Charlie there because he missed it the last time,” Charles said. “I’ve heard a lot about it though, and I’ve seen the photos as well,” Charlie added, to which Charles replied, “We did a photoshoot on the roof of the hotel. It was quite windy, but it was a very special thing for them to do for us. And I would love for Charlie to experience that.”
