The Boys’ Antony Starr reportedly felt creeped out and existential about one bizarre scene from season 4 that has become the highlight.
The latest season of The Boys had its share of bizarre moments that have become a staple of the show. The Amazon Prime Video series has been known to show a lot of gore and messed-up sequences, with each season upping the ante on how far the series can go with the strangeness.
However, the highlight of a rather underwhelming season was Antony Starr’s Homelander getting squirted with breast milk in one scene. The actor was reportedly so weirded out by the sequence at the end of the day that he began questioning his life choices.

Antony Starr is a powerhouse performer, whose latest deranged performance in The Boys has led fans and even creator Erik Kripke to campaign for an Emmy. The actor plays Homelander, the overpowered superhero who has now entered the White House and has garnered much appreciation.

Antony Starr revealed that though he was used to many of the messed-up sequences in the show, this scene really made him question his life choices after filming it. He said in an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers,
I’ve done some pretty weird sh*t in my career…I remember talking to Valorie Curry, who plays Firecracker, she’s brilliant. And we were on the same page with it. I remember after a take just going, ‘What are we doing? I could’ve been a lawyer…what is this job?’.
The actor mentioned that the milk was a mixture of almond juice with some water and how fascinating it was to turn a scene that was so bizarre into something romantic between Homelander and Firecracker.

As Antony Starr mentioned, the actor has done some pretty weird stuff on The Boys. From lasering a non-supporter in front of the public to blowing up a plane with a senator in the very first episode of the show, Homelander is hardly the embodiment of a positive and hopeful superhero.
The mentally complex character has a troubled arc in the fourth season, which sees him struggling to come to terms with his roots and his aging, as well as losing control over Vaught. Homelander also finds another ally in Firecracker, who proves her loyalty to him by giving him her breast
Starr mentioned that as bizarre as the scene was initially, the confrontation became something more beautiful (and hilarious) as they focused on the loyalty aspect of it. He said to Collider,
It doesn’t look like it’s going very well between Firecracker and Homelander. All of a sudden, there’s this reveal of what she’s done and the loyalty that she shows, and then it becomes basically a love scene. It became this incredibly intimate, emotional moment. And I remember, at the end of the day going, ‘What the f*ck are we doing? What are we doing? This is so bizarre.’
The episode then ends with Firecracker cradling Homelander on her lap, which is another bizarre visual fans cannot forget.
The Boys is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
