Jeff Bridges has tragically lost his family home in Malibu due to the raging wildfires continuing to sweep across Los Angeles.

The Oscar-winning actor’s rep confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter on Thursday that the house his late parents bought decades ago, which he now shares with his family, was burned down in the Palisades Fire. The home was inherited by Bridges, his brother Beau Bridges and their sister, TMZ reported.

The actor, most known for his roles in The Big LebowskiTrue Grit, and more recently, The Old Man, primarily lives at his home in Santa Barbara, California, which he shares with his wife, Susan Geston. He has also had some personal battles in recent years, revealing he was diagnosed with lymphoma in October 2020. He later shared in September 2021 that his cancer was in remission.

Bridges’ rep also told THR that their Malibu home was located near Candy Spelling’s house, which was also destroyed in the fires. Spelling, mother to Tori Spelling and her brother Randy, owned the house with her last husband, TV producer Aaron Spelling, for 50 years.

“I’m in shock and processing this massive loss for our family,” Spelling told TMZ. “I am beyond grateful for the memories. It was truly a wonderful gift to have.”

Other Hollywood stars who have also confirmed that they tragically lost their homes in the wildfires included Mandy Moore, Billy Crystal, Anna Faris, Cary Elwes, Paris Hilton, Bozoma Saint John, Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, James Woods, Diane Warren, Cameron Mathison and Ricki Lake, among others.

The wildfire initially broke out Tuesday in Pacific Palisades, before spreading to parts of Malibu and Santa Monica overnight. As of early Thursday, the Los Angeles Fire Department said the Palisades Fire was zero percent contained. Two other active wildfires in the L.A. area — the Eaton and Woodley fires — are also at zero percent containment. The Lidia fire is 40 percent contained, and the Hurst fire is 10 percent contained, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Another fire, named the Sunset Fire, broke out Wednesday night in the Hollywood Hills, endangering the iconic landmark the Hollywood Bowl, among other tourist destinations. By Thursday morning, firefighters were able to contain the blaze and all evacuation orders were lifted.

On Thursday afternoon, first responders were responding to another fire, named the Kenneth Fire, that erupted in West Hills, California, close to homes in the Calabasas and Hidden Hills areas. As of 4:30 p.m., the fire was reportedly estimated to be 500 acres, fanned by gusty Santa Ana winds. Evacuation orders have been issued for nearby neighborhoods.
