The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power star Morfydd Clark hints at the state of Galadriel and Sauron’s relationship in season 2. Season 1 of the Prime Video series saw the two characters’ journeys closely intertwined ever since Sauron, in the form of a human named Halbrand, pulled Galadriel out of the sea. She only learned at the end of Rings of Power season 1 that the man she had been traveling with and grown close to was the villainous Sauron in disguise.
During Screen Rant‘s interview with Clark for the horror film Starve Acre, she was asked to tease what to expect between Galadriel and Sauron in season 2. Clark was tentative about what to share, as she did not want to spoil any critical details about the upcoming episodes. Despite this, she was still able to share an intriguing insight into how the dynamic between Galadriel and Sauron has changed since the revelation in the season 1 finale, and how that affects their perspectives in season 2. Check out Clark’s response below:
I’m always very scared to tease. I would just say the mortal enemies hate each other even more than before, and they’re looking even better than they ever did.
What Galadriel And Sauron’s Mutual Hatred Means For Season 2
Their Conflict Extends Far Beyond The Rings Of Power
At the beginning of Rings of Power season 1, Galadriel was already fixated on Sauron and believed his return to be inevitable, despite widespread belief that the threat was no longer a concern. After the many ways Sauron deceived and manipulated Galadriel as Halbrand, her hatred will be even stronger. This will only further amplify her determination to defeat Sauron at any cost, and may cause her to go too far in doing so, as she is not yet the wise Galadriel from The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
As for Sauron, he offered Galadriel a place at his side, and her rejection will help fuel his hatred in season 2. A partnership with Galadriel would have helped Sauron more easily achieve his sinister goals, a path now made more difficult due to Galadriel’s refusal to join him. Celebrimbor will find himself at the center of this conflict between Sauron and Galadriel, as Sauron uses his new elven form of Annatar to manipulate Celebrimbor into creating more rings of power.
