The amazing XO, Kitty season 2 gave Kitty, Min Ho and Mr. Moon creates a perfect plan to stop Stella

XO, Kitty season 2 weaves together multiple storylines that build up to an entertaining ending, answering questions about the Song-Coveys’ Korean family, Stella’s secret plan, and Kitty’s crushes. The second season of the Netflix show follows Kitty as she returns to the Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS) for the second semester of her Junior year of high school. She must grapple with her feelings for Yuri and Min Ho’s love confession on the plane. Though Kitty’s still a lovestruck teenager, season 2 spends more time focusing on Kitty’s family, with XO, Kitty’s romances being secondary.

Noah Centineo’s XO, Kitty season 2 cameo proves important to the story. Kitty learns, through the letters Peter gives her, that her mom followed her cousin Simon to KISS, determined to bring her family back together. The headstrong main character sets out to achieve her mother’s goal. At the same time, Min Ho’s new girlfriend starts behaving suspiciously as the friend group prepares for a talent competition put on by Min Ho’s father, which is a part of KISS’s new performing arts program. The exciting end of XO, Kitty season 2 wraps up all these storylines while setting up season 3.

What Caused The Rift In Kitty’s Family (& How She Mends It)

The division in Kitty’s family goes back to her grandmother, Young Ja, and her sister, Soon Ja. Young Ja was the wild and rebellious sister of Soon Ja, and the older sister tried her hardest to protect her younger sister. Kitty comes from generations of matchmakers on her mom’s side of the family. Even though their parents arranged a marriage for the younger sister, Young Ja snuck around with a man she loved. Soon Ja told their parents, who disowned Young Ja for her betrayal.

Rather than stay in Korea, Young Ja and her boyfriend married and moved to the United States, where they settled down and had their daughter, Eve Song. Young Ja held contempt for her sister, and she felt Soon Ja didn’t support her. On the other hand, Soon Ja felt angry because she thought Young Ja had forgotten about her. Through Eve Song’s VHS tape and Simon’s letters, Kitty discovers in XO, Kitty season 2 that the children had tried to bring the family back together – the entire reason Eve went to KISS.

Kitty’s endurance, plucky attitude, and love for her family are the key to healing the rift in XO, Kitty.

Kitty learns that, before her death, Eve Song planned to bring Young Ja and Kitty to Korea to unify with Soon Ja, Simon, and Simon’s daughter Jiwan. Kitty helps bring everyone together with the help of Yuri, Margot, and Min Ho. After Jiwan ghosts Kitty, Yuri secretly goes to their house to convince Jiwan to talk to Kitty. Once Kitty and Jiwan talk, they plan to convince Soon Ja to reunite with Young Ja, showing her the letters.

Margot talks to Young Ja about flying to Korea, and Young Ja’s husband convinces her to go. The older Song-Covey sister gets tickets for them to come, but the flight gets canceled. Luckily, Min Ho convinces his dad to use their private jet to bring over Margot and Young Ja. Ultimately, Kitty’s endurance, plucky attitude, and love for her family are the key to healing the rift in XO, Kitty. As Margot points out, these are also the traits that connect Kitty to her mother.

Who Wins The Singing Competition In XO, Kitty Season 2

The Competition Comes Down To Dae And Eunice

Throughout XO, Kitty season 2, the students at KISS prepare for the singing competition run by Mr. Moon, hoping to get the money and a recording contract. The two leading contenders in the competition are Dae and Eunice, making their romance star-crossed. The story focuses on Dae’s journey in music and why he needs to win. However, XO, Kitty season 2 surprises the characters and viewers alike by having Eunice win the competition instead of Dae.

This narrative decision reflects one of the season’s core messages: not everything is as expected. Simon isn’t Eve’s high school boyfriend. Min Ho is more than a spoiled jerk. Jin isn’t straight. Stella isn’t just a Bible-loving, homeschooled girl. Finally, Dae isn’t a better performer than Eunice despite getting more attention throughout the season. Even though Dae and Eunice break up shortly before the performance, the fact that Dae responds with good sportsmanship and a hug hints that they could get back together in XO, Kitty Season 3, if Netflix picks the show up for another season.

Stella’s History With Mr. Moon Explained

Stella Has A Grudge Against Mr. Moon Due To A Middle School Humiliation

Stella stands in the hallways in XO, Kitty season 2

The backstory Stella shares in XO, Kitty season 2 isn’t entirely fictional, but she intentionally leaves out details about her connection to Mr. Moon. Stella was a homeschooled Christian girl named Esther Shim from Pepper Pike, Ohio, who auditioned for the show Rising Stars with Young Moon as a middle schooler. She had an impressive voice, but Mr. Moon told her she wouldn’t make it in the business because she didn’t have the right look. She melted down crying, saying, “But beauty is supposed to come from within.” Unfortunately, the internet bullied her and turned it into a meme.

Rather than process the experience and move forward, Stella became fixated on getting revenge on Mr. Moon for rejecting her. She changed her name, got plastic surgery, and enrolled in KISS against her parents’ wishes. Stella sets out to seduce Min Ho so she can get inside information about Mr. Moon, intending to ruin his career.

How Kitty & Her Friends Stop Stella’s Plan

Though Stella initially sets out to ruin Mr. Moon with MoonLeaks, she switches her plan once she finds out about the recording contract for the singing competition. She uses her relationship with Min Ho to get into the competition late. When he discovers that Kitty is right about Stella, she blackmails him with the knowledge that Min Ho’s brother, Joon Ho, got his backup dancer, Eunji, pregnant. She also plants the audio recordings from the bug on Kitty’s computer to frame her for MoonLeaks.

However, Kitty concocts a plan to stop Stella after learning that Joon Ho is actually in love with Eunji. Kitty and her friends set out to reverse Stella’s sabotage of Dae’s performance. Then, with Mr. Moon’s support, Joon Ho brings Eunji onstage to reveal her pregnancy and propose to her. By sharing the information Stella’s using as blackmail, she no longer has leverage over them. Ultimately, Mr. Moon apologizes to her for what he said on the show before sending her home to Ohio, which feels like great closure for both XO, Kitty season 2 characters.

After the closure with Dae at the end of XO, Kitty season 1, Kitty’s love interests in season 2 are Praveena (her rebound), Yuri, and Min Ho. It’s evident from the start that Kitty and Praveena are just a fling meant to distract Kitty from Yuri, so she’s not an actual contender for the titular main character.

Kitty’s season 2 romantic interests, Yuri and Min Ho, are played by real-life siblings, Gia Kim and Sang Heon Lee.

Instead, the first half of the season leans into the potential romance between Kitty and Yuri. Kitty admits she is in love with Yuri, making it tough for her to watch Juliana and Yuri’s relationship up close. Unfortunately, after Yuri realizes she’s attracted to Kitty, they kiss, and she faces the fallout from cheating on Juliana. Yuri pushes Kitty away while trying to fix her relationship. Even though they don’t get together by the end of XO, Kitty season 2, the show resolves the issues in the way of their romance, opening the door for them to have a relationship in future seasons.

XO, Kitty hints at a possible summer relationship between [Kitty and Min Ho] since she is going with him on his family’s summer tour.

After Min Ho’s reveal at the end of XO, Kitty season 1, he’s officially a contender for Kitty’s heart. Despite others’ insistence that there’s something between them, Kitty doesn’t actually catch feelings for Min Ho until over halfway through XO, Kitty season 2. She realizes that she has feelings for him in the penultimate episode, after seeing Stella and Min Ho together at the ball, and plans to tell him the truth at the end of the season finale. Unfortunately for her, he’s written off romances after breaking up with Stella. However, XO, Kitty hints at a possible summer relationship between them since she is going with him on his family’s summer tour.

How XO, Kitty Season 2’s Ending Sets Up Season 3

Yuri’s Family Could Be Central To XO, Kitty Season 3

Yuri smiles in XO, Kitty season 2

Netflix has gained a reputation for canceling great shows too soon, so there’s a decent chance XO, Kitty season 3 won’t happen. As such, XO, Kitty season 2 did a perfect job of resolving the story to where it feels complete while setting a clear direction for season 3. By the end of XO, Kitty season 2, Kitty is in a true love triangle for the first time with Yuri and Min Ho – both of whom realize they have feelings for her and are single. Previously, either denial of feelings or another relationship got in the way of both possible romances.

The last episode also teases Dae and Eunice getting back together and the new romance between Juliana and Praveena. With her recording contract, Eunice could try to juggle her education and new singing career in XO, Kitty season 3The potential third season could also test Dae’s friendship with Yuri. Dae’s father joined a class action lawsuit against the Han Group, putting them on opposite sides of a messy legal battle. Yuri has never been particularly close with her father, though, so it’s possible she’ll side with the plaintiffs.

The True Meaning Of XO, Kitty Season 2’s Ending

XO, Kitty Season 2 Sends An Important Truth About Life

Kitty Song-Covey smiles in Xo, Kitty season 2

Netflix’s XO, Kitty season 2 might have a frothy tone, but the show sends messages about life, love, and people. Most of the storylines boil down to this: the most meaningful situations and people will be complicated, but they’re worth the effort. None of Kitty’s potential romances have been straightforward, but they all have a profound impact on her. Kitty’s family coming back together took two generations of meddling and many decades of resentment, but it was worth the outcome. Ultimately, XO, Kitty wants young viewers to apply this message to their lives, growing simultaneously with Kitty Song-Covey.
