The 30th novel in Lee Child’s Jack Reacher series gets a release date as the wait for season 3 of Prime Video’s Reacher TV series continues. The book series has been ongoing since 1997, with everything from Book 25 onward being written by both James Grant (under his Lee Child penname) and his brother, Andrew Grant (going by Andrew Child). They have continued to release new books in the series on a yearly basis, with their latest, In Too Deep, coming out while Reacher season 3 was filming.

Now, Waterstones has revealed new information about the 30th Jack Reacher novel, giving it a release date ahead of Reacher season 3. The book, written by Lee and Andrew Child, is titled Exit Strategy, and will be arriving on shelves October 21, 2025. While visiting Baltimore in his nomadic travels, Reacher is slipped a note asking for help, getting sent down a new rabbit hole as he searches for more information. The book will be 384 pages, with a finalized cover coming prior to its release.

The Childs’ 30th overall Jack Reacher book is a testament to the limitless potential of the franchise, and the number of ideas yet to come. Since the series hasn’t been passed over to Andrew in its entirety yet, it seems Exit Strategy will also be far from the end of the titular characters’ investigations. This is also a good sign for the Prime Video series, which is currently adapting the seventh book in the series, Persuader, and has already been renewed for season 4.

The new book also highlights a milestone for the series, reaching its 30th installment 28 years after the release of Killing Floor, the first entry in the series. Its arrival in the same year as season 3 means there will be plenty to enjoy from the franchise for those following both timelines of the character. This release also comes ahead of Prime Video’s Neagley spinoff, which will see the thriller series expand even further by focusing on Reacher’s most consistent companion. Exit Strategy is just one of many positive elements of the Jack Reacher series as it continues to grow.

Our Take On Jack Reacher’s 30th Novel Coming Next Year

It Continues A Positive Trend For The Series

Alongside being a reflection of the franchise’s continued success, the new Jack Reacher novel continues Child’s positive trend of releasing at least one new book every year since the franchise began. Since this is his sixth alongside Andrew, it seems this same release schedule will continue once his brother has fully taken over the series. With nearly a year until it arrives on shelves and Reacher season 3 drawing closer every day, more information about the book will undoubtedly be revealed later next year.
