Sweet Magnolias star Chris Klein has already moved on to something else following Bill Townsend’s demise in season four
WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Sweet Magnolias.
Sweet Magnolias’ Bill Townsend may be no more but actor Chris Klein is already hard at work on a new project away from the Netflix hit.
Season four made its debut last week, Thursday, February 6, with all 10 episodes dropping in one go but it was the second instalment entitled Practical Dreams which really took fans by surprise.
Bill Townsend’s (played by Chris Klein) mom Bonnie Townsend (Judith Ivey) showed up in Serenity to tell his ex-wife Maddie (JoAnna Garcia Swisher) that he had died of a fatal heart attack while in Texas.
The shocking news not only devastated Maddie and their son Kyle (Logan Allen) but the whole town as it made everyone question what they were doing with their own lives.
The dust may still be settling for fans from Bill’s off-screen death but actor Klein is already working on a new project that’s a far cry from Serenity.

Klein hasn’t yet spoken out about leaving Sweet Magnolias behind but showrunner Sheryl Anderson has shared that it was the creators’ decision to have Bill killed off.
She told Glamour: “We wanted to just kind of turn the ship 90 degrees. It was so hard to tell him because we all love him, and he loves the show.
“But he understood and took one for the team because it allowed us to tell stories that we wouldn’t have had had an entrée into otherwise. It was story with a lot of sadness.”
Sweet Magnolias is available to watch on Netflix.a
