Showrunner explains how the confusing ending of Kitty and Min Ho’s love story in XO, Kitty season 2 opens the door for season 3

Kitty smiling as she looks at her sister in XO, Kitty season 2The Song family reunion in XO, Kitty season 2 has set the stage for a potential third season. The Netflix spinoff of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before continues to follow Kitty Song Covey’s (Anna Cathcart) journey as she navigates life, love, and family at the Korean Independent School of Seoul (KISS). Season 2 delved deeper into Kitty’s family ties, uncovering a history of estrangement between her grandmother and her great aunt. With the help of Min-Ho, Yuri, and Margot, Kitty successfully bridged the gap between the older Song sisters and created new possibilities for her story.

In an interview with Tudum, O’Toole confirmed that Kitty is eager to return to KISS for another semester following her heartfelt family reconciliation. Read the comment below:

Yeah, she wants to come back. And now that she knows she has a cousin, now that she’s got this great aunt, there you go. She’s got family there.

What XO, Kitty’s Potential Season 3 Means

Kitty’s Future At KISS Still Holds Plenty Of Surprises

O’Toole’s comment makes sense given how XO, Kitty season 2 ended. With Principal Lee renewing her scholarship, Kitty can stay in Korea and continue her lovestruck journey. There were still plenty of questions to be answered after Yuri finds out she’s broke and Min Ho’s girlfriend is revealed to have ulterior motives.

On the other hand, as Kitty successfully reunites her grandmother Young Ja with Soon Ja, Simon, and Simon’s daughter Jiwan, she not only brings about a touching resolution to the Song family’s long-standing rift but opens a gateway to a deeper exploration of her Korean heritage and her role within these newly rediscovered ties. Season 3 is poised to use these new relationships as a springboard to explore more about Kitty’s roots as she becomes even closer to the legacy of her mother, Eve, and the cultural ties that bind her to Korea.

Kitty’s scholarship renewal also positions her for new adventures at KISS, where her experiences with love and matchmaking are far from over. While season 2 gave her time to focus on family, a third season could shift toward Kitty’s previous romantic entanglements in XO, Kitty that were put on the backburner. Min Ho and Yuri continue to be a lingering presence in Kitty’s life—and with both single by the season’s end—XO, Kitty season 3 has the potential to reignite these old flames.

Our Take On XO, Kitty Season 3

Kitty’s Adventure At KISS Is Far From Over

The heartfelt conclusion of XO, Kitty season 2 beautifully ties together Kitty’s quest to reunite her family while leaving the door open for future lovestruck moments to come. With a renewed focus on Kitty’s relationship with her late mother, the teen show has evolved beyond its romantic comedy roots into a richly layered coming-of-age story. Season 3 could explore Kitty’s newfound family ties as well as her complicated enemies to friends to potential lovers arc with Min-Ho. XO, Kitty continues to charm and surprise, with more humor and heart to come for Kitty at KISS.
