Who will star opposite Alan Ritchson in the upcoming action thriller “Runner”? Hint: he’s a star from the comedy hit “Wedding Crashers,” as well as “Midnight in Paris” and “Loki”… Yes, it’s Owen Wilson!
According to Deadline, Alan Ritchson, known for his leading role in Prime Video’s hit series Reacher, will team up with comedian Owen Wilson in the action drama Runner, directed by Scott Waugh (Need for Speed, Expendables 4) and penned by Tommy White and Miles Hubley.
The film centers on Hank Malone (played by Alan Ritchson), a high-end courier who has three hours to deliver an organ to save a seven-year-old girl in urgent need of a transplant. What seems like a straightforward task quickly turns lethal when the head of a notorious crime syndicate becomes determined to intercept the organ.
Owen Wilson will portray Ben, the medical courier whom Hank Malone must protect and assist throughout the movie. Filming is set to begin next month in Australia, with director Scott Waugh expressing his excitement about the project in a statement
“I believe this pairing is something audiences have been eagerly anticipating, and we aim to deliver the unexpected with the suspense-filled script that Miles and Tommy have crafted,” he said.
Following his work on War Machine for Netflix, Alan Ritchson is currently shooting The Man with the Bag, a family comedy by Adam Shankman where he stars alongside the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger and comedian Awkwafina (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Crazy Rich Asians).
Owen Wilson’s most recent role was in the 2023 remake of The Haunted Mansion. He will also appear in the upcoming sports comedy TV series Rambler.
