In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Centineo praises Cathcart’s dedication to the role and the way she has led XO, Kitty. The actor also details the nerves that come with revisiting an old character and working on a set that has evolved from what he first experienced, and said that, “it was an honor to come back and work with her again.” Read his full comment below:
Anna was always the most prepared actor on set. Lana [Condor] would kill me for saying that, though (laughs). But it is half a joke and half not a joke. Because she was. And so expressive and so talented. She had so many different ways to do the role of Kitty, and so it’s no surprise that she got her own show and spinoff. She does it with grace. She’s so young, she’s so hardworking. It’s a lot to carry the weight of a show. It’s a lot of responsibility. Not just as an actor, right? There’s a lot of responsibility as a person to ensure there’s a culture that provides people what it is they need.
The human resources they need to do their best work, and you don’t have to do that, but it certainly helps to do that. And she does that. Seeing her in the second season of XO, Kitty, just shine. It was the first day, I think it was their first day back. There’s nerves involved with that. You haven’t really gotten to fall back into the character yet because you’re on day one. It’s your first time putting Owen or Kitty back up on their feet, and she did it with such ease and such grace. It was a 10 out of 10 experience for me. She’s got so much going for her. I’m stoked for her, and it was an honor to come back and work with her again.
What This Means For Peter’s Cameo In XO, Kitty Season 2
A Bridge Between The Old And The New

Centineo’s return in XO, Kitty season 2 was a nostalgic moment for viewers of the To All The Boys franchise, allowing the spinoff series to continue having its connection to the original films. While Peter Kavinsky was the heartthrob of the film trilogy, XO, Kitty has successfully established Kitty as its leading character, giving the franchise a fresh perspective. Bringing Peter back was one of the most sentimental of the franchise, and it gave longtime viewers an update on the beloved character’s life while also reinforcing how Kitty’s journey differs from her sister’s.
XO, Kitty has been widely praised, as well as Cathcart’s portrayal of the youngest Covey sister, and Centineo’s comments about her work ethic further highlight her talent. As XO, Kitty continues to expand its storylines and characters, it is clear that the show is carving out its own identity while maintaining that same magic that made To All The Boys a hit. Centineo’s praise for Cathcart also suggests that his cameo, while fun, was also a learning experience for him, especially as he navigated the familiar yet new world he once knew, this time led by Cathcart.
Our Take on Centineo’s XO, Kitty Return
The Cameo That Honors the Franchise

Noah Centineo’s cameo in XO, Kitty season 2 was more than just a fun reunion, it highlighted the franchise’s ongoing evolution. While Kitty’s story is now at the forefront, Peter’s brief return served as a reminder of how far the characters, and the franchise, have come since To All The Boys first debuted in 2018. His praise for Cathcart’s leadership on set also reflects not just how XO, Kitty has established itself as a successful continuation of the beloved rom-coms, but also assures viewers that the franchise is in good hands.
Whether Peter makes future appearances, or another beloved character comes back to the screen, his cameo proved that the To All The Boys legacy remains strong, and XO, Kitty is in excellent hands moving forward. While Netflix has not yet confirmed XO, Kitty season 3, hopefully it will include additional ties to the franchise.
