New Casting Announcement for Gen V Season 2 Unravels a Key Mystery Left Hanging Since Season 1’s Finale

Jazz Sinclair as Marie Moreau and Lizzie Broadway as Emma Meyer in Gen V

A new piece of Gen V season 2 casting has just been announced, and this news resolved one unanswered question from the show’s season 1 finale. The Gen V season 1 finale ended on a cliffhanger, leaving all kinds of mysteries open to be resolved in season 2 of the beloved The Boys spinoff series. However, one of these biggest mysteries may have just been unveiled ahead of Gen V season 2’s release, as one new actor’s addition to the spinoff show secretly unveils the fate behind one important Gen V season 1 storyline.

Gen V season 2 is on the way, with the highly anticipated continuation of Amazon Prime Video’s The Boys spinoff series now in development. Gen V season 1 was a surprise hit, with it expanding the world of The Boys by focusing on a new group of supes who attend a supe college known as Godolkin University. Gen V season 1’s finale managed to set up ways in which the crossover will intersect with The Boys season 4 while also setting up exciting new storylines for Gen V season 2, one that may have been spoiled by this casting announcement.

Hamish Linklater’s Casting Reveals The Fate Of Godolkin After Gen V Season 1

His Character Is Names Cipher

Hamish Linklater has joined the cast of Gen V season 2, with the Midnight Mass actor’s addition to the show being one of the most exciting season 2 casting announcements. While there are still a lot of questions surrounding the actor’s casting, it has been announced that Linklater will be playing the new dean of Godolkin University, with him being a charismatic new character named Cipher. Cipher is an original character, with him not having appeared in The Boys comics, but he will undoubtedly play a big role in season 2.

The fate of Godolkin University was left up in the air after Gen V season 1, as the conspiracy surrounding Godolkin’s the Woods facility and the violent finale caused some fans to wonder if the university would get shut down. Gen V ended with a mass supe riot that involved many of the escaped prisoners of the Woods, with things getting so bad that Homelander had to step in. However, the addition of a new dean means that Godolkin University will undoubtedly continue operating, with Hamish Linklater’s character heading the school.

Hamish Linklater’s Dean Cipher will be following in the footsteps of another Gen V season 1 character, with that being Shelley Conn’s Indira Shetty. Shett was the former dean of Godolkin University and the main antagonist of Gen V, with her being behind the goings-on in the Woods facility. Dean Shetty died at the end of Gen V season 1 after her confrontation with Cate, and now that the role of dean is empty, it seems that Hamish Linklater’s new character will be the former villain’s replacement.

Gen V Season 2’s Cipher Is Likely A Major Homelander Ally

He Makes Godolkin Even Scarier

It is possible that Hamish Linklater’s new Gen V season 2 character is even scarier than Dean Shetty, as Cipher is likely a major Homelander ally. Godolkin University is run by Vought International, and with Homelander seizing complete control of the company, it only makes sense that they would put a pro-Homelander dean in at the school. The Boys season 4 is setting Homelander up to grab for power in a way that hasn’t been seen yet, and these major changes will undoubtedly affect how the school is run.

Dean Cipher’s role in Gen V season 2 could involve him covering up Homelander’s violence and supe supremacist rhetoric during the Godolkin University riot from the end of Gen V season 1. He could also have a hand in turning the university’s student population against Starlight and the protagonists of The Boys and further towards the pro-Homelander side, with this possibility being absolutely terrifying.

Dean Shetty was already a scary enough villain for her involvement in the Woods program, but Cipher will undoubtedly be worse. Dean Shetty may have been evil, but at least she was against supes, with Homelander’s involvement in The Boys season 1’s plane crash leading to her having a specific hatred for him. Putting a pro-Homelander dean in office at Godolkin means that the entirety of Vought will most likely be operating in lockstep, making the university an even scarier threat for Marie and the gang in Gen V season 2.
