Mike Tyson’s record-breaking Netflix fight against Jake Paul was nearly three months ago, but the boxing legend admits he still doesn’t feel fully recovered.
On January 25 at the 2025 Pegasus World Cup carpet, Tyson told the New York Post that he feels pretty good.
Tyson stepped into the ring with Paul at AT&T Stadium in mid-November of last year. This was after the bout was postponed from its original July date, due to Tyson experiencing a serious ulcer flare-up.
The highly anticipated fight was streamed live on Netflix, attracting 65 million viewers from across the globe, marking Tyson’s return to the ring after a 19-year break.
Despite his loss against Paul, Tyson, with 59 total fights and 50 wins, reportedly took home a $20 million paycheck for his effort.
Many viewers were left feeling disenchanted, thinking Tyson threw the fight.
But, in an interview with Covino & Rich on Fox Sports in December, Tyson said he had trouble remembering the fight against Paul and that he “blanked out.”
“You know what I remember? Coming back from the first round, and then the next thing I remember, Jake is doing some kind of bow,” he said. Though the rounds were short, Tyson recalled feeling sore the next day and questioning himself for going through the comeback process, which took nine months of training.
