Martin Lewis made a surprise interjection during a debate on This Morning just as Gino D’Acampo returned

Martin Lewis crashed a debate on This Morning to give his opinion on urinals

Martin Lewis made an unexpected interjection during a debate on This Morning, where he found himself at odds with Baroness Sayeed Warsi concerning the issue of urinals. Tuesday’s programme featured a debate about new health and social care minister Ashley Dalton’s past remarks, in which she stated that individuals could identify as llamas and should be accorded “dignity and respect”.

In the midst of discussing women-only spaces, Sayeed proposed in the discussion with hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, alongside fellow guest Gyles Brandreth, that more neutral spaces are needed to prevent “other-ing” those who identify as non-binary.

“Let’s not also make this a toxic debate where we’re trying to other somebody else,” Sayeed remarked. “So just create neutral spaces where everybody feels safe and private in that space.”

However, Martin Lewis, who was off-camera awaiting his segment, couldn’t hold back. “Can I say something about that?” he interjected, prompting hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley to pivot from the guests to address him.

“I totally agree with you on the premise but there is one point with neutral spaces that in a space and efficiency management system, urinals are the most efficient way for men to go to a toilet and you want five or six of them otherwise you’re going to have large queues at any venue,” reports the Mirror.

“So the problem is simply a logistic one of neutral spaces is you have cubicles for everybody whereas you can put 10 urinals in the space of three cubicles, men can filter through a lot more quickly and it brings out the queues bringing in that way.”

He added: “I agree but logistically for operational sites, it’s more difficult.”

Sayeed responded by mock shouting, telling Martin: “The only thing I’d say is welcome our world Martin because women spend their whole lives queueing outside toilets so you can do the same!”

It didn’t stop Martin from continuing with his point, with the presenter saying: “Yes but if you put men into the same toilets, the queue is going to be even longer.”

Earlier today, Lorraine Kelly was left red-faced after making an awkward comment to Good Morning Britain star Ed Balls in a slip of the tongue.

Last week, Alison Hammond opened up about turning 50, telling OK! in an exclusive interview that she hasn’t celebrated with a big party.

“It just feels like another year,” she said. “I had the big bash when I turned 48 – and Aidan turned 18 – and it was wonderful. But it took a lot of preparation. I’m not in the mood this year! I just want to chill out.
