Mark McGrath shared a surprising story about Eminem’s calm demeanour and an early-morning fast-food splurge at the 2001 “Joe Dirt” premiere.
The Sugar Ray leading vocalist recently dropped a gem of a story about Eminem while chatting on The Brandon Jamel Show. Imagine the 2001 premiere of “Joe Dirt”, a quirky comedy about a mullet-wearing optimist on a quest to find his long-lost family. With stars like David Spade leading the laughs, the after-party was destined to be just as memorable.
The 2000s star recalled the wild night featuring Kid Rock, David Spade, and, of course, Eminem. Kid Rock especially had a reputation for drawing people in his orbit at such events. McGrath joked:
When you’re around Kid Rock, especially back then, you better have a couple of days open.
But what stood out most was not the rock star antics — it was Eminem’s unexpectedly chill vibe. McGrath said:
He was super mellow. He didn’t party much — just had a couple of beers.
Then came the plot twist: at 6 a.m., Eminem got a craving for Burger King.
It’s pre-Uber Eats and all that, so I’m like, “I don’t think anything’s open right now”.
With fast food delivery services still a dream of the future, Eminem’s manager, Paul Rosenberg, took matters into his own hands and somehow secured $600 worth of Burger King and brought it back. McGrath recounted:
Paul went out and got $600 worth of Burger King and brought it back. I’m like, “Bro, I don’t think any of us are going to be eating”.
The burgers mostly sat untouched, but the effort? Legendary.
McGrath could not help but admire the close bond between Eminem and Rosenberg:
Those two are real. They’re beyond best friends.
Doesn’t it feel good to be a fan of a star whose wild night goes down in memory not as a reason for a lawsuit but as an example of a laid-back attitude and a fast-food haul for the ages?
