Virgin River star Benjamin Hollingsworth is behind bad boy Brady who has returned for the sixth outing on Netflix

Virgin River fans have loved getting to know the complicated Dan Brady so what is there to know about the actor Benjamin Hollingsworth?

Season six sees Jack Sheridan (played by Martin Henderson) and Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge) get their happily ever after as they finally tie the knot in these newly released episodes.

Brady’s (Benjamin Hollingsworth) love life remains in turmoil though as he previously split with Brie Sheridan (Zibby Allen) after she found out he had been dealing drugs.

And even though she has moved on with police officer Mike (Marco Grazzini), many are still hoping for a reunion with her and Brady in this latest series.

So as fans start binge-watching season six, here’s all there is to know about the star behind Virgin River’s Brady.

Early days struggles

Born in Ontario in 1984, Hollingsworth knew he wanted to become an actor from an early age and so attended the National Theatre School of Canada, graduating in 2006.

It wasn’t too long before he started landing jobs and was on top of the world following his first major movie, The Joneses which he starred in alongside Demi Moore and David Duchovny.

He was starting to work on a new The CW show The Beautiful Life which had been produced by Ashton Kutcher, however, the series was cancelled after just two episodes had aired.

Hollingsworth wrote on Instagram that they were shooting a scene from episode seven when they were told “midday we had 30 minutes to clear out of our dressing rooms”.

He shared a picture that the paparazzi had taken of him the morning that he found out the show had been cancelled, continuing to write: “Young, dumb and now broke, I moved back to LA with my tail between my legs.

“Couch surfing with my little dog Stella. I wasted a year of my life feeling sorry for myself, self sabotaging opportunities and chasing after celebrity instead of the work.”

Nevertheless, despite the setback, the 40-year-old wasn’t willing to give up entirely just yet: “BUT, this wasn’t the worst morning of my life.

“In hindsight it was one of the greatest things that ever happened to me.

“I learned a lesson they don’t teach you in theatre school. Take nothing for granted, nothing is guaranteed or owed to you. Resilience is earned not inherited.”

Famous ex-girlfriend

The Virgin River actor was in a long-term relationship with The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev.

The pair were roommates initially before they became a couple in 2006 and were together for the next three years.

Sadly, it wasn’t meant to be and their romance came to an end but going by Hollingsworth’s tone when he spoke of her in an interview with Pop Culturalist in 2021, they parted on good terms.

He said: “My good friend, Nina Dobrev, was on another CW show at the time, The Vampire Diaries.

“That went on for eight or nine seasons.

“It was fun to see where she went. It’s interesting to see all sides of this business.”

Family life

The Brady actor did go on to meet his true love lingerie designer and Bar Method teacher Nila Myers in 2010.

They got engaged two years later and married just two months following the proposal and have since had three children, sons Hemingway Nash and Gatsby Willem and daughter Juniper Bloom.

Speaking of his wife to iHeartRadio three years ago, Hollingsworth commented: “She’s amazing. Three kids later, she’s still such a hero. I’m so lucky to have her.”
