Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have suffered a blow as King Charles and Prince William are set for a royal tour to the US, according to new claims.

The Government could make good use of the monarch and the Prince of Wales to strengthen the UK’s ties with the US, a source has claimed.

A senior UK Government source said: “Donald Trump has a clear affinity for the Royal Family.

“He had a great relationship with the late Queen, recently met Prince William and has spoken highly of King Charles.

“A royal tour to the US would help reinforce the ‘special relationship’.”

A second continued to tell the Times: “Playing up to his pro-monarchist tendencies is one of a number of important ways we can exert our soft power.

“You saw that during his first administration and can expect to see it again.”

No formal offer of a royal tour has been made, according to the publication, but sources claimed such a trip could take place in 2026.

If a royal tour to the US takes place next year, this would coincide with the 250th anniversary of the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence.

GB News has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to California back in 2020, and are raising their two children in Montecito.

Since Harry and Meghan’s Stateside move, the only senior royals that have visited America are Princess Kate and Prince William.

The Prince and Princess of Wales travelled to Boston in 2022 for the Earthshot Prize Awards.

GettyIf a senior royal were to travel to the US for an official tour, this would inevitably mean the Sussexes would be back in the headlines.

Harry and Meghan are not thought to have an overly positive view of President Trump, with their plea to American voters in 2020 widely being viewed as pro-Biden.

At the time, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex urged American voters to “reject hate speech, misinformation and online negativity.”

The Sussexes did not comment on the 2024 election between Trump and Democratic nominee, Kamala Harris.
