Celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo left Rob Beckett’s wife Louise ‘Lou’ Beckett red-faced after he asked her to rate the comedian in the bedroom during a video call in 2021
Celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo had a cheeky interaction with comedian Rob Beckett’s wife, Louise ‘Lou’ Beckett, during an episode of the Parenting Hell podcast.
The Italian cook, 48, was being interviewed by Rob, 39, and fellow funnyman Josh Widdicombe, 41, when he was introduced to their wives via video call.
After a brief chat with Josh’s wife Rose, Gino was introduced to Lou, who ended up leaving the call after his question. Recalling the moment, Rob said: “My wife’s walking through. Do you want to say ‘hello’ to Gino, Lou? Rose has as well. Louise is here. Do you wanna say hello quickly? ” To which Gino responded: “Oh yes, I do.”
As Lou greeted him with a “Hiya, sorry. Hello.”
Gino charmingly replied: “Ciao bella.”
A laughing Lou responded: “Hi. Nice to meet you.”, reports the Mirror.
Gino then asked: “How are you, bella? ” to which Lou replied: “I’m good, thank you.”
Gino probed further, asking: “Good. How is Rob treating you? Is he good? ” To which Lou responded, “He’s a very nice man, aren’t you? ” Gino then pressed Rob’s wife for more details: “Well tell me something – out of ten, as a husband, go on …” and added, “I’ll make it easier for you. ” Before Lou could rate him, Gino interjected with a cheekier question: “Out of ten in the bedroom.”
Amid some laughter, presumably from co-host Josh, Lou tactfully avoided answering and instead said she was off to take the dogs out, chuckling, “Nice to see everyone.”
As she left, a flustered Rob returned to ask what had happened, and Gino explained: “I asked out of ten … one out of ten in the bedroom. She walked away.”
Confidently, Rob countered with his self-assessed rating: “She said a solid seven but I know I’m an eight point five.”
Injecting humour, Gino quipped: “As an Englishman, take a seven. Take a seven. Remember you are an Englishman. Take a seven.” causing another round of laughter.
Rob probed Gino during the podcast, “What about you, Gino? What would you put yourself … how would you rate yourself? How would [your wife] Jessica rate you, do you reckon? ” To which Gino delivered a cheeky response: “We don’t do ratings. We just go for the round of applause at the end. I bow, I get my round of applause and I’m out.”
Discussions with Gino touched on his family life and culinary expertise. At the close, Rob praised the exchange, “This has been an absolute pleasure. I’ve loved it.” while Josh remarked, “It’s been a great episode. Thank you, Gino.”
The episode has recently gained more attention following Gino’s entrance into the headlines due to other projects. He stands accused of “distressing” and “sexually inappropriate” behaviour as a result of an ITV News investigation, with “Dozens” alleging experiences deemed “unacceptable,” “distressing,” and “horrendous” over more than a decade working alongside him.
In response to these allegations, Gino has issued a robust refutation. Addressing the circumstances holistically, he relayed in a statement to ITV News, “I have been told by ITN news that allegations have been made about me acting inappropriately, some dating back over ten years ago.”
“I have never been made aware of these matters previously and the allegations are firmly denied. I would not do anything that I thought would upset or distress anyone. This is simply not in my nature. I do not recognise the version of events being put to me. Not only have these allegations never been raised with me before, I have been repeatedly supported by executives at the highest level and was commissioned on prime-time programmes during the period in which it is now suggested I was acting inappropriately.”
“I am a father, husband and have worked with well over 1,500 people on around 80 productions in my career, which I have been so proud of. I take such matters extremely seriously and the suggestion that I have acted in an improper way against is deeply upsetting.”
