Gen V season 2 adds its first new character, who will have a key role in The Boys spinoff. The first live-action spinoff for Prime Video’s The Boys franchise, with Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters as showrunners, focuses on young supes who are tested in battle royal challenges at Godolkin University, fittingly titled God U for short. Given that the institution is run by Vought International, a sinister shadow lives beneath the surface and explodes by the end of the first season. But there were some notable deaths along the way.
Now, Variety confirms that Midnight Mass actor Hamish Linklater is jolining Gen V season 2. He’ll play Cipher, who is described as a charismatic and charming newly-appointed Dean of Godolkin University. Cipher is trained as a scientist and is politically brilliant. He also has the trust and admiration of officials at the highest level. He replaces the former Dean, Indira Shetty (played by Shelley Conn), who died late in season 1.
Hamish Linklater Joins An Already Very Busy Gen V Season 2
Gen V Season 1 Concluded With A Cliffhanger.
Linklater, known for his role as Father Paul in the Mike Flanagan series Midnight Mass , joins a season of Gen V that remains shrouded in mystery.
Gen V‘s season 1 finale fully connects The Boys with its college-set spinoff, as the main protagonists survive a dangerous encounter with Homelander (Antony Starr) in the finale. The closing moments of the Prime Video show reveal the core group trapped in what appears to be a very isolated medical facility. Marie (Jaz Sinclair), Jordan (Derek Luh, London Thor), Emma (Lizze Broadway), and Andre (Chance Perdomo) have no clue where they are, in any case.
The upcoming episodes are confirmed to include major changes, following the tragic death of Perdomo. The actor passed away in March, at the age of 27, as the result of a motorcycle accident. Since then, Gen V‘s producers have confirmed that they will not recast Perdomo. Their joint statement, noted in part: “We will honor Chance and his legacy this season.” As of now, Gen V season 2 does not have a confirmed release date.
