Gen V Episode 7 Ending Explained: How Neuman’s Shocking Final Scene Sets Up The Boys Season 4

The Boys season 4 is the next story from the beloved superhero franchise, and the ending of Gen V episode 7 may have set the new batch of episodes up with Victoria Neuman’s exciting final scene. Gen V may be a spinoff of The Boys, but it seems to be setting up the series’ next big storyline in a big way, with a major element from Gen V having a huge impact on the franchise’s universe. Multiple characters from The Boys show up in Gen V episode 7, including Victoria Neuman, highlighting that the spinoff’s story arc may continue on into The Boys season 4.

Gen V is finally here, with the highly-anticipated spinoff of the beloved Amazon Prime Video series The Boys nearing the end of season 1. The show puts a new spin on the world of The Boys, with the series this time focusing on a supe college known as Godolkin University. Gen V follows Marie Moreau, a young blood-bending supe who gets the opportunity to attend the prestigious Vought-run university. However, Marie soon discovers that things aren’t as they seem, with some of The Boys‘ highest-profile characters getting their hands in on the mix. Gen V episode 7 sets up an exciting finale, but it may be setting up even more.

Victoria Neuman Takes Gen V’s Virus – Will She Use It?

Claudia Doumit as Victoria Neuman in The Boys season 2

Although Victoria Neuman has been teased throughout Gen V, she finally appears in episode 7, with her scheming in the background and setting up The Boys season 4 in a big way. One of the most significant elements of Gen V so far has been the supe virus, with it having the ability to kill a seemingly endless number of infected supes. Although Dean Shetty and Cardosa seemingly had their own plans for the virus, Victoria Neuman has intervened, with the virus now resting in her hands at the end of the episode. Neuman isn’t the only character to know about it, however, with Grace Mallory hot on her trail.

The last remaining samples of the supe virus rest with Neuman at the end of Gen V episode 7, causing many to wonder if she will actually end up using it. While Dean Shetty was undoubtedly planning to unleash the virus, Neuman probably won’t, as she is a supe herself. If Neuman could make the virus non-contagious, she could selectively use it on rogue supes like Homelander. However, Neuman will most likely either destroy the virus or hold onto it for safe-keeping, as the virus being unleashed would not only kill her, but it would also reveal to the world her true nature as a supe.

Why Neuman Kills Dr. Cardosa In Gen V Episode 7

Dean Shetty and Dr Edison Cardosa in The Woods in Gen V

Near the end of Gen V episode 7, Victoria Neuman meets with Dr. Cardosa in a secluded parking garage. Dr. Cardosa hands over his samples of the supe virus to Neuman, believing it will be in her safe hands when he goes into witness protection. After all, Cardosa believes that Neuman is an honest anti-supe politician, not a blood-bending supe. After handing Neuman the virus case, Neuman causes Cardosa’s head to explode, leaving his dead body in the parking garage as she drives away. This shocking moment concluded Neuman’s appearance in episode 7, so why did she do it?

As Dr. Cardosa explains, the virus he gave Neuman is the last sample in existence. Since there aren’t more samples anywhere else, that means that the only way more could be obtained would be to have a scientist make them. As it turns out, the only scientist who knows how to make the supe virus is Dr. Cardosa. Since Neuman most likely wants to prevent the virus from being unleashed, she killed Dr. Cardosa, leaving no possible way for this version of the supe virus to ever be recreated. While Neuman’s means were drastic, she secured a world in which she had the only remaining supe virus sample.

Neuman Now Has 2 Weapons Against Homelander Before The Boys Season 4

Antony Starr as Homelander in The Boys Season 2 looking unfcomfortable After Gen V episode 7, Victoria Neuman now has two weapons against Homelander that can be used before The Boys season 4. The sample of the supe virus is the most obvious one, as it has been proven to take down almost any supe. If Neuman can figure out a way to infect Homelander without infecting herself, there is nothing that Homelander could do to prevent his death. Although Homelander is the stronger supe, this biological weapon makes Neuman a much more dangerous foe if she decides to use it against him or other Vought heroes in The Boys season 4.

The second weapon that Victoria Neuman has against Homelander was set up all the way back in The Boys season 3: Soldier Boy. Soldier Boy’s explosions have the power to deactivate the abilities of other supes, with Butcher and Hughie originally planning to use him to kill a depowered Homelander. Although this plan didn’t work, Grace Mallory has Soldier Boy secure in a bunker, meaning that Neuman could easily get him. With Soldier Boy and the supe virus combined, Neuman has several approaches that she can employ in taking on Homelander in the upcoming season.

What Gen V Episode 7’s Ending Means For The Boys Season 4

Gen V episode 7’s ending is pretty impactful, with it meaning a lot for The Boys season 4. The virus could end up being the main plot element in The Boys season 4, with Neuman, the Boys, Homelander, and Vought all racing to get control of it. This high-stakes race would be an incredibly interesting story to explore, with it actually paralleling the comics. Billy Butcher’s The Boys comics ending involves him using a biological weapon to kill off large swaths of supes, and Gen V‘s supe virus is the perfect way to recreate that storyline in the Amazon Prime universe.

There are several other story threads that can continue in The Boys season 4 after Gen V episode 7. Grace Mallory was on the phone with someone in episode 7, but it is never revealed who. This mystery partnership could be continued in the upcoming season, whether it be a continued alliance with Billy Butcher or a new character. Neuman’s connection with Marie could also be played around with. It seems like Marie Moreau is a leading candidate for a spot on The Seven, and Neuman could use their bond to influence her. Gen V‘s connection to The Boys is stronger than ever, making the season 1 finale so exciting.

New episodes of Gen V release Fridays on Amazon Prime Video.
