‘Fallout’ Knocked Off Amazon Prime Video’s Top 10 List by a Major New Series

While Fallout remains one of the most successful Amazon Prime Video originals in history, and has been planted at the #1 spot on the top 10 list practically since its premiere, another huge Amazon show has returned to unseat it.

You may be able to guess what it is and surprise, it’s season 4 of The Boys, which instantly rocketed to the top of the charts after its three-episode premiere night on Thursday. The show is reviewing slightly worse than past seasons, indicating perhaps it’s getting somewhat long in the tooth (how many times can Homelander escape death at this point). But it’s just been confirmed that it will end with season 5 in 1.5-2 years or whenever that happens.

That does not mean The Boys is truly done, however. Walking Dead-style, even if the main show ends, other spin-offs will continue. We already have the college-based Gen V, and reportedly The Boys: Mexico is coming with superheroes in another country. I also doubt we’ll only get those two, over time.the boys

Fallout is down to #2 and obviously got renewed a million years ago for season 2. The boost it gave the games is still evident on PC and console charts even today. Outer Range remains at #3 and only briefly was at #1. I’m not sure if it will be picked up for a third season or not, but season 2 reviewed better than the first.

A bit of the rest of the list is populated by past huge hits, The Summer I Turned Pretty and Reacher for one. The more recent Maxton Hall is at #10. Gen V is also currently at #8, indicating The Boys fans may have watched or rewatched it ahead of the season 4 premiere. You actually do sort of have to have seen it in order to understand some plot points of The Boys, as in particular it features Victoria Neumann quite heavily. The reveals at the end of that show are going to have huge ramifications in the larger universe of the franchise at some point. I’d watch it.

I am guessing The Boys is going to be on top of the Amazon Top 10 TV list for a long time, given its popularity. If not, I’m not sure whether that speaks to the show getting weaker or Fallout just being that massive. I’m leaning toward the latter, as I think The Boys’ viewership is only going up in time. Though we don’t have exact numbers for that yet. Give it a watch and see what you think.
