The inductees list for the 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame has been revealed – and doesn’t include nominated acts like Eminem, Janet Jackson and more.

Last night (January 22), the Songwriters Hall of Fame unveiled the inductees for its Class of 2025 after announcing the nominees in November. Being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame this year are George Clinton, The Doobie Brothers, Ashley Gorley, Rodney Jerkins, Mike Love and Tony Macaulay.

Among the artists who were nominated back in November but did not make the cut are Eminem, Janet Jackson, Boy George, Alanis Morissette, Sheryl Crow, N.W.A., Bryan Adams and more. A total of 26 artists were nominated, with only six being selected for induction.

The six inductees will be honoured at the 2025 Induction & Awards Gala in New York City in June.

2024’s inductees were R.E.M., Timbaland, Steely Dan, Hillary Lindsey and Dean Pitchford, with Cindy Walker and Prince receiving posthumous inductions. SZA and Diane Warren also received special awards.

In 2023, Jade, Snoop Dogg and Electric Light Orchestra’s Jeff Lynne led that year’s class of Songwriters Hall Of Fame inductees, alongside Gloria Estefan, Teddy Riley, Glen Ballard and Liz Rose.

In a three-star review of Eminem’s latest album ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce)’, NME wrote: “Much more powerful is ‘Temporary’, a genuinely moving ode to his daughter, Hailie, which proves Marshall Mathers can say something that matters when he wants to.

“So, who killed Slim Shady? In bringing him back to the light and showing him up as irrelevant, perhaps Eminem’s done his old pal in for good. OK, we get it – Shady was a shocking character. Now that he’s dead, how about getting some new material?”

In other Eminem-related news, the rapper – who is nominated for Best Rap Performance at the upcoming Grammys – has shared that he thinks Kendrick Lamar will likely take home all of the seven awards that he’s nominated for: “Kendrick is gonna sweep that shit. He’s going to, and he should.”
