Eminem battled a severe addiction and had help from a music icon
Music icon Elton John saved lives while making music that won over millions. According to an insider, Eminem says the Rocket Man hitmaker is the reason he’s alive today.
“If it wasn’t for Elton, Eminem might not even be here today – and he admits it,” a source revealed.
Sir Elton, 77, and the Houdini hitmaker performed together at the 2001 Grammy Awards. Years later in 2009, John became Eminem’s sober coach and helped him battle addiction.
The tipster added: “He’s somebody who’s in the business and can identify and relate to the lifestyle and how hectic things can be. He understands … the pressure and any other reasons that you want to come up with for doing drugs.”
A close friend of the That’s All She Wrote hitmaker also weighed in on the matter, saying, “Eminem has been tempted so many times to slide back into his destructive addictions when pressures have mounted in his life, but one call to Elton and he talks him off the ledge.”
Eminem has suffered from addiction to prescription pills such as Valium, Vicodin and Ambien, alcohol and cocaine and admitted that he nearly died in 2007 due to a methadone overdose.
Elton John also battled cocaine and alcohol addiction and got clean in 1990.
