The conversation surrounding the credibility of the Grammy Awards has once again been reignited, this time by one of hip-hop’s most iconic figures—Eminem.
The rapper, known for his unfiltered opinions and unapologetic delivery, has openly called out the Grammys, labeling the entire voting process as “fake.”
During a recent interview, Eminem did not hold back as he criticized the award body for its alleged bias, claiming that winners are selected based on favoritism rather than merit. He expressed his frustration, stating:
“That vote is fake as fk, that is not a real vote; they give it to who they want to give it to. If I lose to fking Kanye or someone that I’m like, okay, I respect that, I know who that is, and Kanye has a huge following, he made a massive impact on music. But don’t fking get us all here to use your selling point for your fking show and stiff everybody every single f**king time.”
The Detroit rapper, who has won multiple Grammy Awards in his career, made it clear that he has no interest in attending the event in the future, stating:
“Don’t ever ask me to fking come here again, please do not ask me. My answer is no, for 100 million years. Never again will I fking go to the Grammy.”
Over the years, several major artists—including The Weeknd, Nicki Minaj, and Drake—have voiced similar concerns, calling out the Recording Academy for allegedly snubbing deserving artists.
His outburst is not the first time he has clashed with the awarding body. In 2004, after losing the Album of the Year category to Outkast’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, Eminem expressed frustration over what he saw as the Grammys’ failure to recognize hip-hop as a dominant genre.
Similarly, in 2018, Jay-Z, despite being nominated for eight awards, walked away without a single win, fueling further controversy about the legitimacy of the awards.
