Conor McGregor didn’t want to book any flights to India at the moment, but Logan Paul called and challenged him

Conor McGregor might not want to book any flights to India just yet.

The former two-division UFC champion recently teased ongoing talks for a showdown with Logan Paul in a boxing match funded by the Ambani family — led by Mukesh Ambani, who is one of the richest men in the world — where he would return to the ring for the first time since facing Floyd Mayweather in 2017. The potential fight continued to gain steam with gaudy financial figures being tossed about with rumors that McGregor and Paul could possibly earn a whopping $250 million for the fight.

Well, UFC CEO Dana White might have something to say about that after he laughed at the suggestion that McGregor’s long awaited return would happen in a boxing match against Paul.

“No,” White said rather emphatically when asked about the fight on Pardon My Take.

Because McGregor is under exclusive contract with the UFC, the promotion has to sign off on him competing in any sport or activity outside the octagon. White actually stepped up as a co-promoter when McGregor pursued his fight against Mayweather, which is how that matchup ended up happening.

It doesn’t sound like White is nearly as enthusiastic about McGregor facing off with Paul in a potential boxing exhibition in India.

When it comes to McGregor fighting in the UFC, White continues to hold out hope that happens sometime in 2025 after the Irish superstar was originally scheduled to compete this past June in a long awaited fight against Michael Chandler.

Unfortunately, McGregor broke a toe in the weeks leading up to the fight and the bout was scrapped. Chandler ended up moving on to a fight against Charles Oliveira in November while McGregor remains sidelined with no exact date determined for him to fight again.

“Eventually,” White said about McGregor returning to the UFC. “Hopefully Conor McGregor returns in the fall this year.”

McGregor hasn’t fought since 2021 when he suffered a gruesome broken leg in a trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier. While he’s insisted that he’s anxious to fight again, McGregor has been occupied with outside the cage issues, which includes a civil lawsuit where he was found liable for sexual assault over an alleged incident that took place back in 2018.

McGregor also became a part owner in BKFC in 2024 and that’s kept him plenty busy as he continues to help the bare-knuckle promotion expand its footprint across combat sports.
