Canelo Alvarez has mixed feelings about revealing the truth about Crawford’s life

Terence Crawford got worked up today, reacting to Canelo Alvarez minimizing his record by saying he’s only fought one “good” opponent during his 17-year pro career, Errol Spence, and that was after he’d been in a terrifying car crash in 2019.

Alvarez: “One Good Win”

Canelo seems to have mixed feelings about giving an unaccomplished, unproven fighter like Crawford the chance to fight him. Terence never fought any of the killers at 147 or 154.

It’s understandable for Alvarez to be taking a swipe at Crawford, who has a resume that is barren of quality wins because that’s the truth. He’s an example of how fighters can float through divisions, capturing titles against weak opposition and then calling out a popular fighter for cash-out purposes. There’s a system to this. What Crawford has done winning four division titles is no different than what Adrien Broner did to accomplish the same feat.

Terence’s Four-Division World Title Wins

– Israil Madrimov – 154
– Jeff Horn – 147
– Thomas Dulorme – 140
– Ricky Burns – 135

Canelo wouldn’t have a gripe with Crawford if he’d at least done that, and that’s not asking much of him. King Canelo would be in the right by insisting that Crawford put his soft hide in the general population at 168 to mix it with the apex predators, Benavidez, Morrell, Osleys Iglesias, Christian Mbilli and Diego Pacheco.

The four-division Crawford was wounded by Canelo’s pinpoint truth, but all he could answer was that he’d “always had the joy of making” his opponents like “nobodies.” But when they were nobodies when he fought them, what does that say about Crawford?

Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) revealed the truth about Crawford’s career. He’s only beaten one good fighter, Spence, and that was after he’d been wrecked physically from his 2019 car crash. Once you get beyond the win over Errol, there’s no one on Terence’s resume that you can call a good fighter. They were either shot when Crawford fought them or B-level their entire careers.

Crawford Defends His Legacy

“Lol, that’s crazy! So every fighter I’ve fought is not good, but one? Noted! Just remember what you said because I’ve always had the joy in making somebody look like nobody’s,” said Terence Crawford on X, reacting to Canelo Alvarez saying he’s only beaten “one good fighter” Errol Spence during his 17-year professional career.

“I respect Terence Crawford, but he won just one big fight. If you see his record, he just beat one good fighter. Other than that, I don’t think he’s beating any great fighters like Spence,” said Canelo Alvarez in an interview with TMZ Sport.

Analyzing Crawford’s Wins

– Israil Madrimov
– Errol Spence
– Shawn Porter
– Viktor Postol
– Jeff Horn
– Jose Benavidez Jr
– Kell Brook
– Amir Khan
– Ricky Burns
– Yuriorkis Gamboa

Turki Al-Sheikh should tell Crawford that he must beat these three fighters for him to earn the fight against Canelo:

    David Benavidez
    David Morrell
    Osleys Iglesias

I would be on board with Turki if he insisted on Crawford running this little gauntlet to earn the Canelo golden parachute retirement money. I mean, isn’t that how it’s done in the NFL and NBA? You play the best teams and go to the playoffs and championship games to earn the shot at the top prize. Crawford is trying to take a shortcut to the gold, and I can’t respect that. That sets a bad example that others will follow, knowing they can skate through a career, picking & choosing vulnerable prey to get that magic retirement payday.
