Allegations and Anthems: Eminem’s Lyrical Jabs Spark Controversy as He Exposes Diddy’s Dark Side?

The rapper called out the music mogul’s recent accusations and alleged history of assault on his ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)’ album, which dropped on Friday

Eminem has a lot to say about Sean “Diddy” Combs’ numerous sexual assault lawsuits.

The rapper, 51, took aim at the music mogul’s many recent allegations and alleged history of assault at least three times on his new album, The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce), which dropped on Friday, July 12.

On the album track “Fuel,” featuring J.I.D., Eminem zeroes in on Combs’, 54, accusations with lyrics like, “I’m like a R-A-P-E-R (Yeah) / Got so many S-As (S-As), S-As / Wait, he didn’t just spell the word, ‘Rapper’ and leave out a P, did he? (Yep),” as a play on words dissing the music mogul — who is currently facing several lawsuits alleging rape and assault. Diddy has denied all claims.

The Grammy winner then followed up with shout-outs to the late Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur while also calling out Combs’ rumored role in the latter’s 1996 murder. “R.I.P., rest in peace, Biggie / And Pac, both of y’all should be living (Yep) / But I ain’t tryna beef with him (Nope) / ‘Cause he might put a hit on me like Keefe D did him.”

In October 2023, Duane “Keefe D” Davis was arrested in connection with Shakur’s Las Vegas shooting death after the case went unsolved for nearly 27 years. In the past, Davis has alleged that Combs offered him money to carry out a hit on the late rap star, but the latter has vehemently denied any involvement in the murder through the years.

Eminem previously made claims about Combs being involved in Shakur’s murder in his 2018 diss track “Killshot” aimed at Machine Gun Kelly. He raps, “But, Kells, the day you put out a hit’s the day Diddy admits that he put the hit out that got Pac killed.”

Eminem fired more shots at Combs on his new album with songs like “Bad One” — which references the claim that the producer allegedly blew up Kid Cudi’s car in 2012 — and “Antichrist” — which calls out the surfaced footage of Casandra “Cassie” Ventura being assaulted by ex Combs at a Los Angeles hotel in 2016.

“Next idiot ask me is getting his ass beat worse than Diddy did ****,” he raps, seemingly censoring Cassie’s name, “But on the real, though (What?) / She prolly ran out the room with his f—in’ dildo (Come here) / He try to field goal punt her, she said to chill (No).”

Eminem’s scathing batch of lyrics toward Combs arrive the same day The New York Times published an account from former Vibe Magazine editor-in-chief Danyel Smith, in which she recalled once being allegedly threatened by the mogul over a cover dispute in 1997.

After repeatedly asking to see advanced prints of his double cover and denying his requests, Smith said Combs told her on a phone call that he would see her “dead in the trunk of a car.” After threatening him with legal action, the editor claimed the producer faxed over an apology within hours of being contacted by her personal attorney. (Combs did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.)

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Accused of Sex Trafficking Adult Film Star at His ‘White Parties’

Amid these claims, Combs faces yet another lawsuit alleging that he sexually assaulted and sex trafficked former adult film star Adria English for years during “white parties” at his Hamptons, New York and Miami residences. The court filing obtained by PEOPLE also named companies that English claimed facilitated said parties, including Bad Boy Entertainment Holdings, Inc., Vibe Magazine and Penske Media Corporation (PMC).

Combs’ lawyer, Jonathan Davis, told PEOPLE in a statement, “No matter how many lawsuits are filed it won’t change the fact that Mr. Combs has never sexually assaulted or sex trafficked anyone.”

The attorney added, “We live in a world where anyone can file a lawsuit for any reason and without any proof. Fortunately, a fair and impartial judicial process exists to find the truth and Mr. Combs is confident he will prevail against these and other baseless claims in court.”
